We were lucky to catch up with Katherine Wehler recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Katherine thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?

Legacy is perhaps the MOST important part of my business and something I think about constantly. Since I was a little girl I always knew at least one thing–I was here to help humanity and make a lasting impact. I’m here to leave a legacy of love and hopefully touch as many lives as possible by helping folks align with their highest truth and own level of impact to anchor heaven on earth. I want to help leave earth better than I found it and at this stage that’s coaching individuals and groups but in the future I plan to expand that vision globally by contributing where I can. Legacy, at least to me, is less about people “remembering me” when I’m gone and more about the ripple effects of my life and work creating change that lasts.

Katherine, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am a New Paradigm Business and Soul Coach who assists in exploring, (re)discovering, and empowering the soul’s highest self and true potential. I have been an Astrologer for over 20 years and Human Design Reader and Coach for 4 years. I am also an Akashic Record Guide and Host of The Soul (Re)Discovery Podcast.

As a young child I was highly intuitive. I remembered many past lives vividly and connected easily with the divine, including speaking light language and seeing energy. However due to trauma and societal pressure I hid these gifts until my soul (re)discovery, a term I have coined that means coming back to and remembering the soul self, in 2016. Following a shooting in college, I experienced extreme PTSD, anxiety, and depression which meant I could no longer put off healing.

Through my soul (re)discovery process I used metaphysical modalities to connect to my soul self and through this unlocked a life of joy, love, freedom, wealth, and prosperity unlike ever before. I deeply remembered why my soul came into this life with the energy of activation and reflection, and now work with my clients and community as a divine mirror and guide to help shift their energy and fully embody their worthiest and most authentic selves to live the life of their dreams and leave a lasting New Paradigm legacy for generations to come.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

Oftentimes when people first start out in business they have exciting, new, innovative ideas and all the energy and enthusiasm to get them out there plus the helpful naivete of KNOWING it’s possible. Then come the “marketing gurus” all up in your feed with their free webinars and more and you think “oh, I’ve been wrong this person is successful so this is the ONLY way I build a successful business.”

But we’re living in a really exciting time when it’s easier than ever before to build and sustain a business on YOUR terms and noone else’s rather than being a cookie cutter replica of what Suzie Q or Brand X Barbie is doing down the street.

Two of my greatest strengths in business are that 1) I’m very brave and 2) I HATE being told what to do. When I first started in business I had to quickly go my own way and unlearn this pressure to “succeed” by doing X,Y, and Z only. And sure, some marketing systems are extremely helpful and I have definitely had the pleasure of being coached by fantastic people along the way but I’m grateful I only went through about 3 months of eating up with these celebrity coach types were selling before finding my own way.

If there’s one lesson I could impart on new business owners, or really any business owner, it’s that YOU are the CEO, YOU are the creative force, best friend, best partner, and best advocate for your business. No one else knows what will help and grow your business like you do so listening to your own intuition and THEN hiring out of discernment of filling gaps where you want to delegate or learn more is the way to go. Also it’s NOT about working hard, it’s about being you and sharing with as many people as possible.

The last thing I had to unlearn that goes hand in hand with this is that no one is the guru or savior or success story you think they are. I have coached multi millionaires and celebrities, I have been coached by billionaires and I have coached and been coached by people just starting out. While there is something to be said for the value of experience and practice, public financial success and reputation does not always equal what you would think it does. Everyone is human and everyone is evolving. Don’t get caught up in the hype of who is hot and popular and believe them to be the best or have all the answers. It’s both empowering and humbling to get to know your “heros” and then realize you’re just as if not more amazing and have your own unique contributions to make they can’t.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.

This is one of my favorite questions because it’s really the story of how my business continues to find me. I’ve been studying Astrology for over 20 years. I started when I was seven back in 2002 when it wasn’t cool at all. I would rip pages out of my magazines and teach my friends all about their signs. Leading up to the age of 24 all I wanted to do my whole life professionally was be an actor. I still love acting. I studied it in college and received my BFA, I even did a summer with the Yale School of Drama in Oxford, England.

But I’ll never forget how my business found me. I was broke, like so broke I was scrounging for coins in my car just to buy gas or McDonald’s for lunch. My friend had someone over and she was going through a difficult spot with her boyfriend at the time so to cheer her up and give her some guidance on whether he was a good match I read her birth chart. At the end she said “this is better than therapy–you should do this for a living!” It sounds weird now but back then astrology STILL wasn’t cool and very much questioned so I NEVER thought I could do it for a career or somehow people would pay me for it.

Flash forward 6 months and I’m at a new job styling for Anthropologie and after a while everyone started to catch on to the fact I loved Astrology. I was supposed to move to Los Angeles and work in a new store and continue pursuing acting but in a turn of events my car completely broke down on my way to view apartments. I remember sitting in my car and just sobbing like “you have GOT to be kidding me.” There was no way I could move AND pay for a new car (LA is so expensive) so I drove home defeated but in a weird way knowing good things were coming I just couldn’t see yet.

I went to work the next day and my boss asked about LA. I told her I had decided not to move and she says “oh yay does this mean you can do my astrology reading?” I did her reading the following week and after the first part she said “I have to tell everyone about this! I learned more in twenty minutes with you than six years of therapy!”

She proceeded to become one of my first clients and told the rest of the women who worked at the store to work with me and it just took off from there. 3 hour sessions for $11-22 suggested donation turned into $100 for one hour and so on.

In 2020 when the pandemic hit and I lost my styling job and all acting prospects my business just TOOK OFF. I mean exponentially without me doing very little I was fielding client requests left and right and I quickly went full time. By 2021 I hit 6 figures using Astrology (and now also Human Design and the Akashic Records) to business coach and then 7 once I scaled to doing more group work. And it just keeps growing and finding me to this day. So I guess the moral of the story is don’t underestimate your passions and hobbies!
