Tiffany, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?

Risk: Hosting day group trips to Rosarito Mexico. Tijuana is approximately 45 min away from Rosarito, Mx and is often known to be very dangerous. Yet after spending a weekend in a beautiful Airbnb near the coast, eating tacos and seafood and going ATV riding. I knew that I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring other women to this country. Since 2022, we have taken over 5o women across the border to have lobster lunch, horseback riding and bonding with other people they may not know.

Tiffany, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Tiffany Heard

My career is in Social Work where I work with clients who may be experiencing Mental Health & Substance Abuse issues.

I am currently the author of 2 books Hues of Africa & Hues of HBCUs where I highlight the motherland & Historically Black Colleges & Universities. They can be found on Amazon, Walmart, Barnes & Nobles and other local book stores.

I also organize and host group trips to Rosarito Mexico (day trip) & Ghana West Africa (9 days). More information can be found at www.huesofafrica.com

I host a podcast called International Interludes: Love & Adventure Abroad which discusses solo travels and romantic relationships.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I started of solo traveling, and I would share my travel stories on my blog, IG & YouTube channel. I love Facebook and I began sharing my adventures in travel Facebook groups. People began to follow me over the years and are always inspired and intrigued about where I was going next or what excursion I was going to do in a certain country.

My advice is to be authentically you, share your story, be consistent in posting on various social media platforms (you never know what may go viral), try new things, post about content that is relatable but unique.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?

I recently published a book called Hues of HBCUs. I was preparing for my first book signing event and posted on LinkedIn. An old coworker, saw the flier and stated that she was going to attend. She came over an hour away to join me in Inglewood, Ca and she enjoyed the presentation so much she informed that she wanted to place a large order. Due to previous experiences, I wasn’t excited or knew if she would actually purchase the items. I am happy to report that she stuck to her word and purchased 100 Books, 100 Pencils & 50 stickers. The best part is she refused to take the discount that I offered customers who place large orders. Despite the low attendance at the book signing, this support from her, more than made up for the amount of people in the room. She has restored my faith in people’s commitment to keeping their word.
