We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful SOCIETIII. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Justin below.
SOCIETIII, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
When I was about nine years old I used to live in the small town called wallkill It’s in upstate New York I did this talent show and i sung this song called The Jacksons dancing machine and I did this little robot dance and I loved how the crowd was cheering for me and everything. And after I was done with the song and the performance they cheered for me and I just loved how much people loved my performance so it gave me the motivation to get into songwriting and into performing and making music. I didn’t take it seriously until I was about 18 to 19 when I started putting my music on SoundCloud and started getting a small following. I started right then and there to find my sound and my craft.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello I am Justin Lockett I go by SOCIETIII I make alternative music It’s a wide spectrum of different genres I usually mix together to make my own sound from genre such as hip hop alternative hip hop grunge punk in the rock R&B soul. What sets me apart from others is me taking more risk I think. And I love making new sounds and just doing new things and be more creative with my producers and my engineers. I dance as well and I make poetry meaning I take the time to write out what I’m thinking of and I have choreography to put it into action. My songwriting creates vivid imagery I evoke emotions through my writing and bring you to my world and make you feel what I feel. My music is detailed as people music or something I call the voice for the voiceless that don’t really have a voice to speak up or just feel some type of way so they can’t do to circumstances out of our control. I want to become a beacon just like XXXTentacion to whereas I can help them find hope or I can help save them from themselves from their thoughts. And how I got into being into the music industry and everything is doing open mics and just teaming up with people like lady nate and loud music to do festivals such as LOUDFEST and open mics.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I want to create a world where everyone sees themselves as equal as everyone I want them to feel loved and and cared for I named myself SOCIETIII not because of it being cool The three III’s represent the past present and future It means I learned my mistakes from past to become a better man in the present to work hard and create something better for the future I want people to find themselves in what they want to do within my music I want to be the one they find solace and peace of mind.when they are sad angry heartbroken lost I want my music to be their guide in the night

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect is people just love in my music and just finding themselves or just having hope or just being a fan honestly I love creating just for the fact of people just loving it honestly I would love to make it to where I can be wealthy from it but them just being able to listen to it and just take the time out of their day It’s just it makes me feel special. Another thing is people listen to what I have to say cause my music is more message-based and just stories.
