We recently connected with Kayla Greenwade and have shared our conversation below.
Kayla, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
The first time I knew that I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally was when I was early in my college career. I was getting my footing in the music department at Citrus College. That is where I learned that I could advance in the music industry doing more than being a performing artist. The passion from helping people and pouring my heart and soul fed my appetite. I knew I wanted to do more than just singing and performing.

Kayla, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those who may not know me. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Kayla Greenwade but also known as Kayla Michele or my professional stage name Kayee Mesh (Kaye – Meesh). Like many of my musical influences and role models. I got my first opportunity in church. I began singing and falling in love with music at the age of five. I am blessed to come from a musically inclined family similar to the Jacksons. My family is a big part of pushing me and molding my musical capabilities to what they are currently. I was that child who loved singing to the radio, making up dance moves, and singing every chance I got. Like any other child who is interested in music. I participated in plays, musicals, and singing groups. Music is my entire livelihood.
The difference maker that landed me in the music industry was going to Citrus College where I met many of my close friends and developed my work ethic. If you don’t know by now. Citrus College’s music department has birthed many talented musicians till this current day. There is no other institution like theirs.
The types of services I provide are singing professionally with artists and cover bands, I teach beginner to advance vocal instruction and beginner piano, I also offer services for artist development, artist management, artist branding and marketing. What sets me apart from others is my heart/passion, my work ethic, my futuristic outlook on the future, and my story telling through performing.
One of the most things I am proud of is receiving my degree in Music Industry Studies which is also know as Music Business. I was working so hard to reach that goal and I was able to achieve it last year in 2022. That goal was the most difficult but rewarding thing I’ve done in my life.
I want anyone who crosses paths with me to know whether we are doing business or met organically that I am overly passionate about music and touching peoples’ lives through music. I am someone who wants to support people who are where they are as they are striving towards their goals, dreams, and future.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is how I get to make people feel when I am performing which is one of the things that I love. The expression on people’s faces is more rewarding than preparing for a gig or assignment. I love being able to connect with people through song. It’s the rush that fuels my hunger.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The particular mission that is driving my creative journey is wanting to be the difference maker within the music industry. I am constantly looking up to the ones who paved the musical way for myself. I love how Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, many record executives have set the ton e and pace for creatives such as myself. I see myself creating a similar impact one day at a time. My mission is to help people achieve their dreams. I want to become a great record executive in the future.
