We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brandon Hunt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brandon, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
Wow, I will never forgot the feeling I felt when I got my first customer. I remember spending countless hours the night before updating my website with all of the new items. I had finally executed my plan and started an Etsy shop featuring a curated collection of hand-picked vintage items. Really it was just a conglomerate of things that I thought was dope from accessories, old vinyl records, vintage toys, antiques or anything that reminded me of my child hood. The beginning of Livintage Apparel.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I had to pivot during Covid. No one was out shopping like usual. It was all online. This is when I dropped my first collection. I still wanted to provide dope trends to the masses even during a pandemic. The collection was a success. I needed to find a way to still make an income while being stuck in the house. I had to overcome the struggles of life plus I had a new born baby. The hustle got real for me. I also launched my online wardrobe styling business.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
My side hustle definitely turned into my my main business. I was styling my friends photoshoots and helping others with their vision until I stepped into my own greatness. I remember my first celebrity client I booked. It was for a custom fedora I made for Lance Gross. I was persistent in reaching out to his team and they finally responded and I met him at his hotel to do a fitting and take photos of him in the item. I felt unstoppable.
