We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cyazon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Cyazon, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?
The first significant amount of money I earned as an artist was in 2020. I was working on a sound pack for a big artist’s sample pack for Splice, a place where music artists can download royalty-free sounds. The project took about a whole month and a lot of sleepless nights. I was paid about $1,000.

Cyazon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m an electronic music artist, producer, and DJ. I go by Cyazon as an artist. I make all kinds of electronic genres, drum&bass, dubstep, house, and mid-tempo. My music has a futuristic and analog kind of sound.
I first got into making music back in 2012. I was doing it for fun and less seriously for about 5 years on and off. Then around 2018 I started to create more music and take my career more seriously to follow as a career.
I’m most proud of the music I released this year in 2023, and the unreleased music that I made this year, which will come out at some point. I can see how my music has evolved and how I have improved as an artist. I’m also grateful that more labels are taking an interest in working with me and releasing my music.
One of the main things that people and fans should know about my music and brand is that each song tells a story within the Cyazon narrative. Each song before and after build upon each other, like a sci-fi or fantasy movie.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
When thinking about this question, there are two goals driving my creative journey. To have my music and live visuals or music videos (when it evolves more) connect with fans and listeners in a deep way where it inspires them to know that any dream or desire is possible. Or if they are going through a difficult period in their lives, that my music would act as healing for them. Another goal that drives my creative journey is to be making full-time income from music and live shows.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Earlier this year, I had a lot of doubts about my music career and whether I would have more successful music releases with labels. A friend I met online around this time told me that she thought I was already successful in the past and could easily do it again if I believed in myself knowing my worth. She really helped improve my confidence as an artist and person. So I kept sending my music to labels until eventually I received a few approvals and opportunities coming out of nowhere. That best illustrates my resilience.
