We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jason Berger. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jason below.
Alright, Jason thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
As a local skydiver I was a member of a club for 13 years. When the end of the club was obvious in my eyes it was time to start something new. I recruited my business partner Tom Neilson and began to search for a location. We wanted something that we can showcase the beauty in our area. After 2 years of searching and with almost all hope lost. With our luck we found a perfect location 9 miles north of Niagara Falls! This property was already an airfield with a turf runway. Huge field which would work perfect for a parachute landing area and a barn that we converted into our check in/ and packing area! We spent our life savings on the property and our first airplane. We also had only one skydiving rig in the beginning! With much practice we perfected our flight path which takes us over Niagara Falls, we even fly into Canada on every jump. To our knowledge we are the only skydive center in the world to do so! Our product our guests over Niagara Falls surely was a hit and we continue to grow every year. This marks our 5th year and we look forward to 100 more!

Jason, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I began skydiving in 2006-2007 at the age of 18. In 34 years old now and with over 4500 jumps I still jump and fly daily! I don’t believe skydiving is for everyone but I do believe everyone should try it once. Getting into the sport is not a hobby it’s a lifestyle and you need to be prepared for it but it will change your life. Jumping at skydive the falls is truly a unique experience every jump. Most skydiving centers you fly in circles over the dropZone before the jump. We fly directly to Niagara Falls before heading back to the dropZone. We get view of north Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, the city of Buffalo and Toronto, the Niagara River, then Niagara wine trail and much more. We have been gifted such a great view in our home!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Honest good product. It’s all about the quality of what you are offering! Anyone can skydive almost anywhere. The skydive will virtually feel the same but what it comes does to is the people you do it with. We believe we treat everyone customer as if they are a part of our family. The view it’s more than just just a skydive for us, it’s about sharing what we see on our daily trip around town!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Being honest and truthful. Everyone and every business will get a bad review from time to time but when every other review is positive and real it’s easy to pick the sour apple from the bunch. Sometimes you can’t make everyone happy and sometimes customers except the moon and back these days and that’s not possible. It’s giving it your all and letting your guests/ customers know you are a real person with a family too. A lot of people have the misconception that skydiving it a corporate business but the truth is almost none are. Skydive the falls is a small family business run by two parters with support from their families.
