Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Trae Rojo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Trae, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
The end game for me has always been to be able to make music for a living. Everything else will come later naturally. Being able to spend 24 hours a day on music would allow me to create the best music possible.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Music is in my blood. I was writing my own songs at 6 and recording on my moms computer by 9 teaching myself the basics of audio engineering. My dad made music for fun growing up along side my uncle who was a producer. I performed my first show at 16 years old while i was going to high school in Las Vegas, Nevada. That night is when i knew this is what i wanted to do for the rest of my life. So here i am still chasing the same dream and now expanding my creativity by starring in an independent film based in Las Vegas as well as writing for other recording artists and eventually developing screenplays of my own.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Absolutely, as a young artist i had no idea how to distribute my music like these big names who’s labels do it for them. How do i get my music on spotify and apple music without a record label? A friend and artist put me on to distro kid and it changed the game for me. I felt one step closer.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part is the process and what i learn in the process. Seeing and hearing what iv’e created at the end is great too but the process teaches me things that i can use to make my next track better.
