Kindness begets kindness. So, wanted to create a space to share and amplify stories of kindness with the hope that it inspires a chain reaction.

The summer before I left for college, my childhood home caught fire. I lost all my supplies for the upcoming fall semester. At a time where I was already preparing to start over, I was forced to literally leave the remnants of my childhood behind. A sophomore at my university, Holly Gleason (that was her maiden name anyways!), gave me ALL of her textbooks from freshman year. Every single one. I didn’t have to replace a single one of the books I lost in the fire because of her generosity. I was able to start the semester with the rest of my classmates. She had never met me, and yet she chose to help me. I try to be as kind as Holly was to me that day as often as I can. Receiving kindness of that caliber is soul-changing, and I hope everyone gets so experience and offer that type of generosity at some point during their lives. Read more>>

I began my career in 2008. I had one semester left of college and was shipped out to Los Angeles to finish off my academic life with an internship with Partizan Entertainment, a music video and commercial company founded by Michelle Gundry While I was very excited to be in LA I was also very nervous. Everything was new then. The plants looked different from what I was used to. The architecture was different. Everyone was wearing jackets in 70 degree weather! I had my first few days in the office of Partizan where they quickly decided to put me on set. This is something I will never forget. It was a Janet Jackson music video! Read more>>

This is a really tough question to answer, because many people have been kind to me throughout my life. I’d say, honestly maybe my acting manager. I have been with her maybe 8+ years, and I have not booked one thing through her yet. I have had quite a few near misses aka pins, callbacks and chemistry reads etc, as well as definitely made money and given commission to my both my theatrical reps through self sourced and created work, however that’s about it. And I’ve done looots of auditions. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I am so grateful that I have people who truly love and believe in me, and who stick by me through thick and thin – having faith that that big day will come, and it will. In regards to my artwork, I would say Amy Sedaris (whom I adore) reposting a painting I did of her as Jerri Blank. She absolutely did not need to do that, and it gained me a lot of followers. Read more>>

It was my first elevated hike of the year and I was extremely excited. I’d been away from the trail for a while and was extremely excited to get back. When I arrived, I was met by a group of wedding photographers. They were in AZ from Kentucky, capturing love. They remarked how stylish my hiking outfit was. They proceeded to inquire if I wanted to be captured. I gleefully accepted. I received a free photoshoot from two of the photographers on the trail. It was an aligned moment because I was there intentionally to hike and create art to share through my various platforms. It affirmed was right where I needed to be, doing exactly what my spirit needed to be doing. As well as to continue my pathway into scaling my art to build a larger audience of divine supporters. There are two. 1) I was just starting to write music for commercials back in the 1980s, when Chris McHale, then a young producer at DDB Neeham NY, invited me into his office. He had seen a rock opera I wrote in college and asked me if I’d be willing to write a song for a “kamikaze” mission. He explained that the agency had already chosen another song and had prepared a very expensive pitch campaign to go with it, but they couldn’t give the client just one option. He promised he would get me a “real job” next time and paired me with a young copywriter from the agency named Ken Shuldman. I wrote the melody for the song in the elevator ride down. We had no money for singers so Chris and his assistant and I sang it. There were a few more twists that occurred but the result was that the song – the KitKat Gimme A Break jingle – is still in use 37 years later. All thanks to Chris’ kindness. Read more>>

This question popped out since it just happened earlier this year. I have two kids, a 1 year old and a 4 year old. We decided to go out to dinner, in Old Town Pasadena. There was a long wait for a table, so we played with our kids for about an hour while we were waiting for the table. We ran up and down the street with them, held them, spun them, really engaged with our kids. Our name was called, so we went inside the restaurant and sat down. We ordered, ate a delicious meal and then asked for the check. The server said, its already been taken care of and that we are really good parents. We looked around and asked, who took care of our bill, but the server just said they wished to remain anonymous and that we were really good parents. This was such a meaningful experience that it actually touched my heart. Read more>>

Before moving to California to support my son in his pursuit of acting, I ran a therapeutic art program. It was really hard to give up this business I had built. Especially because it was the first time I was fully making a living using art. I had contracts with both a school for kids with disabilities and the counties foster home for minor children. I also worked one on one with clients in their home. After several years of traveling back forth between TX and Los Angeles I chose to stay in LA. Read more>>

The kindest thing has been the unconditional support from my parents. It’s not easy to discover your passions and purpose, but with a great support system, the journey feels better. Growing up, I’ve picked up various hobbies, such as fitness, fashion, and photography on top of considering medical school. Throughout the journey of becoming the best version of myself, my parents have always had my back and ensured I felt confident as I pursued my dreams. Read more>>

The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me is to help me find the action of commitment. I had a philosophy of who I thought I was. And yet, I never understood commitment. It wasn’t until I met a very special person who challenged me to practice commitment in a way that I had never experienced, that I found what true commitment felt like. Thirty days she said, “Give it 30 days!” it was in that thirty days i found myself living a life beyond my wildest dream ,dreams which i never had. It was that act of kindness that someone took the time to direct me to do something more than from a philosophy that didn’t work half the time. I went from a 30-day boyfriend to a devoted partner for 13 1/2 years. Read more>>
