Hi Jay, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

I feel like I always knew. Ever since a kid I’ve been exposed to music, I listened to everything starting from The Beatles then Michael Jackson. I also grew up listening to Usher, The Dream, Lil Wayne and 50 cent. I remember seeing their music videos and feeling inspired. Then when I was in high school I had one of my first big performances opening up for Playboi Carti, Father, Madeintyo, Rj and Tyga. I felt like this life was meant for me and I couldn’t get enough.

Jay, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Jay Saffi, and my music is like finding hidden gems. I thought of my name because of the sapphire gemstone, then I cut it short and added my own flavor to it. I first got into making music and engineering when I was 12 because I didn’t want to pay anyone when I can make music my way. I used to teach myself off YouTube and take notes on everything. Being an artist is about being yourself, you need discipline if you want to reach the places you dream of. You’ll have sleepless nights locked in working on your craft and you’ll have times of doubt but you got to keep going. I think what separates me from others is my work ethic. I don’t need the clubs or bars, I’m more of a homebody just writing lyrics and editing songs. One thing I want all my followers to know is don’t worry about the negatives in life because making money feels good when you make it out the rain.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

It’s simple, just be yourself and record everything you do. People like to see content and they want to feel connected to you. You also want to utilize every Instagram feature such as stories, reels and post. Lastly comment and share. Engaging helps people see you more often and put a face to your name.
