We recently connected with Darnique and have shared our conversation below.
Darnique, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
The past few years, I found myself in a bad place. Listening to things that poured life into me such as podcasts, music, and sermons helped put my life back on track. I had the intention of starting my own podcast about topics adults tend to dance around.I found that through one sentimental conversation, you’d quickly learn that not only are others going through the same things as you, but also, there’s nothing to be gained from hiding your pain. But y’all, imposter syndrome and fear started to kick in because something like this isn’t my norm. However, overtime, I realized “if not me, then who?”, “Why not me?!?!”lol The time is now for me to step out of my comfort zone some more! So ladies and gentlemen, I bring to you The Vulnerable Room™ -The show that discusses the highs and lows of adulting. This is a safe space where you can remove the mask you wear on a daily and be free! ✨

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Darnique is a Health Administrator by day and a podcaster/content creator by night. She is originally from Southside Jamaica, Queens and will never allow you to forget it! lol While juggling her 9-5, she recently obtained her Master in Health Administration and looks forward to furthering her career pretty soon. She is a God fearing woman and believes that nothing is too impossible for God. She found that through one sentimental conversation, you’d quickly learn that not only are others going through the same thing(s) as you, but also there’s nothing to be gained from hiding your pain. Hence, why The Vulnerable Room™ was created. She creates a safe space that allows listeners to be open, honest, and transparent.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to help other young adults in this journey called “life”. I want them to know that they’re not alone and that we all share the same or sentiments and experiences when it comes to certain topics. Even if we have different views, we can learn from each other. This is a consistent healing journey for me and as I’m healing, the listeners are healing too.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
If you know me personally, you know I am a social butterfly. However, I can be reserved when it comes to certain things. Podcasting is one of them. In order for me to get out of my comfort zone, I started to push content on Tik Tok and Instagram while I build my brand in the background. The feedback I received made podcasting a bit less nerve wrecking.
