Allow me to share the inspiring story of how the idea for my business, Straight Walk Runway, came to fruition. It all began with my personal experience as a model, where I consistently stood out among hundreds of other models, often serving as the benchmark for the ideal walk and appearance on the runway. This unique position sparked a realization within me, one that was guided by the Holy Spirit.

After years of honing my skills and training numerous models, the Holy Spirit whispered to me one day, urging me to establish my own business. In 2017, I took the leap and founded Straight Walk Runway, fully believing in the worthiness of this venture. What initially started as a platform to train models gradually evolved into something much grander—a school and a production hub that empowered models to foster their confidence both inwardly and outwardly.

My unwavering passion for what I do served as a driving force behind this endeavor. I became acutely aware that I was not only offering a solution but also filling a void that existed in the industry. Back then, the concept of model coaches was unheard of; however, now there are numerous individuals pursuing this path. I recognized the potential and foresaw the success of StraightWalkRunway, as it addressed a genuine need and allowed me to combine my passion with my expertise.

Witnessing the growth and transformation of aspiring models, seeing Straight Walk Runway flourish beyond mere training to become an empowering space, solidified my belief that I was on the right path. It became a place where individuals could not only learn the art of modeling but also develop themselves as individuals. StraightWalkRunway became a beacon of confidence, bridging the gap between the inner and outer beauty of models.

In conclusion, my journey to establishing Straight Walk Runway was guided by my own experiences as a model and the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit. By recognizing the lack of model coaches and being driven by my passion, I created a platform that not only fulfilled a need but also became a catalyst for personal growth and empowerment.

Hello there! I’m Shereena Delgado, the founder of Straight Walk Runway Model Academy. My journey into the world of modeling began when I was 18 years old while working at Nordstrom Rack. Customers would approach me on a daily basis, encouraging me to pursue modeling due to my appearance. Intrigued by the idea, I decided to take it seriously and give it a try. Surprisingly, within a year, I found myself traveling internationally and experiencing significant success on the runway.

As my skills in runway modeling excelled, I caught the attention of producers and designers who admired my work. They began using me as a prime example of what a model should look like and how she should carry herself on the runway and in photo shoots. It was during this time that I received a divine instruction to establish my own training business. The idea made perfect sense to me, considering the numerous models who approached me at events, seeking guidance on posing, walking the runway, and more. Without hesitation, I embraced the opportunity and said yes to starting my training business.

Additionally, at Straight Walk Runway, we offer a wide range of services and activities. Firstly, our Model Academy provides comprehensive training to aspiring models. We cover various aspects such as personal branding, runway walking techniques, modeling terminology, and overall preparation for entering the fashion industry. Our training approach is holistic, focusing on the well-being of models both inside and out.

Furthermore, we have a production division that specializes in organizing fashion shows, fashion events, and networking opportunities. We believe in creating platforms for models to showcase their talent and connect with industry professionals. Additionally, we host a podcast where we discuss the significance of confidence in the industry, along with other topics that are often overlooked in the modeling industry.

Our services include group model training, private model training, and model mentorship programs. We assist models in building their portfolios, arranging photo shoots, and other essential elements of their career development. To complement our offerings, we recently launched a workbook called “Self-Assurance: The Ultimate Confidence Cheat Sheet,” which is now available at Barnes & Noble.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

When I first ventured into my business back in 2017, I faced a significant hurdle—I didn’t have the financial resources to get started. However, a turning point came when I was introduced to a remarkable women’s minority group called Grameen America. To this day, I remain an active member of this empowering community. Grameen America’s mission is to support minority women by providing them with the capital they need to start their businesses. Beyond funding, they offer a powerful network where we connect with like-minded women in business, fostering bonds and camaraderie. Moreover, through this network, I was able to develop my credit and receive the crucial initial capital I required to launch my business. I am immensely grateful to this group, and my success thus far would not have been possible without their support. Believing so strongly in the impact of this group, I seized the opportunity to gather a group of women and establish a new branch within it. The growth of this organization has been phenomenal, and I am thrilled to witness its remarkable expansion.

To establish my reputation in the market, I believe that my unwavering passion for my work is paramount. By demonstrating and sharing this passion, I inspire others to realize their full potential. I strive to show my students that there are no limits and that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. However, I emphasize that success requires hard work, dedication, and a determined mindset. I support my students by providing reassurance and guidance, ensuring they stay on the right path towards their goals.
