We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Corey Pavlosky a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Corey, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe whole-heartedly that success is determined by setting your goals. You cannot have success without defining what you’re aiming to accomplish,
In a product-driven industry, success is often viewed as “how good is the mix” or “how good is the song” yes. those are both essential to the end goal. However, I often tell my interns & people I work with that you’re selling an experience just as much as a product.
If someone can be encouraged, directed, & have a good time while creating a product they’re proud of I believe that is a success. not just having good mix

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Pipe Dream Studios has been a music recording studio in the coastal Virginia area for several years, helping clients achieve the musical goals they always hoped for while simultaneously respecting their budget. Owned and operated by Corey Pavlosky (a soon to be 28 year old, singer-songwriter & musician extraordinaire himself), the studio offers it’s musical clients the best of the best with creativity, sound quality, and freedom to make their music exactly how they envision. Pipe Dream Studios provides all of the mixing, mastering, sound engineering, and music producing in one place by one man. Pavlosky’s wide range of instrument expertise and his years of experience in the field allows him to bring any genre to life, as well as the ability to give clients the produced music they can be proud to release. Before Pipe Dream Studios existed, Corey Pavlosky was a singer and musician himself, with his own dreams and aspirations. He decided to learn how to record his own music, and eventually began to provide the service to others as well. Today, the studio has a plethora of clients and has had hundreds of songs, albums, and artists emerge from within it.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Simply doing a good job. If we want to grow clientele, we should do a job that’s worth the anticipated growth. It should be something that we can be proud of. An effective strategy for this is to have a good reputation, be ethical, and show people the respect they deserve. We should offer clients the best quality equipment, communicate patiently and listen effectively to them, as well as put in the necessary work to ensure the happiness and satisfaction of those clients. At the end of the day, our goal is to provide a positive and memorable experience. Music is a “pipe dream” to so many people, but we are here to make that dream a real, tangible, and achievable goal for them. The least we can do is make sure that our clients have a great time pursuing the things they’re passionate about and love so much, and if we can do that, our clientele will naturally grow.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
A little over 2 years ago, Corey Pavlosky’s small business had grown to the point where it was difficult to produce music at the same time as keeping up with clients, responding to the plethora of business emails, writing up invoices, scheduling sessions, as well as maintaining a social media presence. All this ended up leading him to hire his first paid employee, Ami, as the studio’s Office Administrator in the Summer of 2021. Corey had known Ami for years as a friend from church who also had a passion for creating her own music. Although she was wanting to book studio time at Pipe Dream, Ami didn’t have the financial ability to pursue it. So the two determined that they could work effectively together as a team; Corey could get someone to pick up the slack with all of the office tasks, while Ami could use the money she made from working to book recording sessions. This started the “Dream Team”. Recently, Corey hired another employee, Caitlyn, to help out with the studio’s social media content. Meeting through a mutual friend, Corey knew that Caitlyn could increase value to Pipe Dream Studios, and hired her as a long distance employee. In this way, Pipe Dream Studios is able to keep in touch with it’s clients and foster brand loyalty: Corey maintains positive client relationship by continuing to provide the highest quality music production affordably, while being the fun loving music enthusiast that he is. Ami communicates and schedules sessions with clients everyday via email and direct messages, making sure that their needs are heard and their questions are answered. Caitlyn controls social media presence, helping to further the reach for potential clients as well as shed light on past client’s success. Each team member of Pipe Dream Studios keeps doing the work that they love in order to create a business that they can be truly proud of.
