Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tia Cristy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Tia, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success has many angles like love, health, wealth, happiness, and wisdom, just to name a few. However, I believe the first thing it takes to be successful in any dimension of your life is to have your passion and vision be crystal clear. Passion isn’t just doing what you love, but staying in love with what you do while enduring the difficult times. The vision and your mission should be so clear that when anybody asks you what you are doing, you can paint a seamless picture that is easy for others to grasp. And finally, the most important step in the journey of success is to be others-focused. People that set out in their business to help people and positively impact others, will always have a greater chance at success than those who only focus on themselves, money, and /or material objects. From the start of my entrepreneurial career, I’m honored to say that I was taught by some incredibly successful industry leaders to treat my work as a gift that I selflessly provide to others, and eventually, the money will have no choice but to show up. It was also mentioned to be wary of those who are solely revenue-focused because they will constantly be chasing a mystical creature and living a life of hardship with no sense of fulfillment. That being said, I feel pretty fulfilled.

Tia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been a radio personality for most of my life, and I’ve always been very proactive in sharing tips and lifehacks with others. Sadly, back in 2012, I had gotten Mold Toxcity poisoning and it rocked me. I was suffering from major symptoms from fatigue to loss of motor skills. As part of my own therapy, I started writing down all the tips that I could remember and put them on a webpage I named Tips from Tia. I didn’t expect anything to come of it, but after six months of hard recovery, I was surprised to see that it kind of blew up. It was amazing to see how many people I was helping through sharing simple tips to make everyday life a little easier. Today, we have over a hundred thousand subscribers from all over the world. I’ve gotten letters from amazing people who have felt their lives change for the better just by reading Tips from Tia. I love our audience and my goal is to continue helping others by reducing the exuberant amount of stress everyday life issues can cause. I like to make the uncomfortable comfortable. And, I believe that is what sets us apart from our competitors. We focus on all topics from health, home, and beauty. But also, on mental and physical health. We test out most of our tips and research, so we can provide the most trusted tips to our audience. We advocate our audience members to put medical professionals and other professionals into their conversations, so you can get the best results because we are not a one-size-fits-all world. We want to be your number one resource for finding the right tip to help in your everyday life.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Up until the pandemic, I had only looked at Tips from Tia as a cool, passion project. However, when Covid hit, like most of you, I found myself at home, and wondering what was next. As if that timing wasn’t bad enough, I had also gotten a hacker on the site that caused a bit of havoc. So, I was downtrodden over the whole thing, and I was ready to pack it up and in on my successful-enough, passion project. However, the right people always come into our lives at the right time. I had been picked to do a TEDx and that experience started a new trajectory on my life. Over the course of the following year, I began to meet some of the world’s most brilliant minds and successful industry leaders. After many hours of discussion with those who have climbed these intimidating mountains before me, I was reinvigorated. The mountains didn’t look so scary anymore. Business plans started to form and creativity began surging again. The morals of the story are, that as I said before, passion is what you are willing to endure. And surround yourself with the right people who will inspire you to be better. I will always remember the quote, “You want to see your future? Then, look at the five people you surround yourself with.” -Unknown.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In radio, there is only about a 12% population of women are on air. I never paid much attention to the stats of being a woman in a male-dominated world until one day, I was informed by a boss that I was ‘a girl’ and that’s why I was passed over for something I was striving for. Honestly, I was baffled by this discovery. I never looked at my ‘being’ as a hindrance. After learning that it is legal thing called ‘Artistic Preference’, I realized that I chose a world where I highly rely on the opinions of others, and there is nothing wrong with that as long as you have thick skin. However, I want to pointedly express, I did learn the importance of being myself and loving who I am. Just like your vision, you must know your persona crystal clear. We cannot waiver in who we are because someone wants to change ‘this’ and someone else wants to change ‘that’ about our personalities. Yes, there will always be something a man can do better, or a woman can do better, or an individual can do better than you. But remember we all have our own select gifts in this world. So, I implore you to be extremely cautious about changing for others because, before you know it, you won’t recognize yourself anymore.
