We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kristina Pearson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kristina, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later?
Call me crazy, but no. Although I’ve always known I would become an entrepreneur, I needed to honor my core values and listen to intuition. It was only after navigating simultaneous life changing experiences that I firmly believed I was ready to navigate the demands and pressure of being a business owner. I had developed greater confidence in who I was as an individual, along with unwavering trust in myself and talents as a designer. As a result, Haus of Lola was born.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been immersed in the fashion, interior design, and real estate worlds since 2003, beginning with a transfer from North Dakota State University to the International Academy of Design. Shortly thereafter, I co-founded a brick and mortar design firm and home furnishings showroom while pursuing my license for real estate sales. Fast forward through out of state relocations, corporate career opportunities awarding me invaluable leadership and project management experiences, maintaining multi-state real estate sales licenses, my dream of entrepreneurship and passion for design brought me back to the bay area. It was at that time, Haus of Lola was born.
My services range from space planning, to materials and furnishings—selection and procurement, to design and project management. I also offer e-design services for clients throughout the country. Having worked in both residential design and sales, I’m able to provide a unique perspective to the design process from a creative and financial/investment point of view.
In my spare time, I’m active within my community and the co-leader of the Women’s Business League Tampa chapter. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, championing museums and the arts, trying new restaurants, traveling, and being a dog-mom to my Maltese, Sybil Rose.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
My network has been invaluable when it comes to acquiring new clients. I’m passionate about giving back and providing value to others and have always believed that building meaningful relationships opens doors for both personal experiences and business opportunities.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being an interior designer is the level of trust that develops between myself and clients. This trust is the cornerstone of our creative journey, as it allows me to bring my clients’ visions to life in their living or working spaces. Collaborating with other professionals in the field, whether it’s architects, contractors, or artisans, is equally fulfilling. Together, we explore innovative solutions, navigate design challenges, and ultimately create spaces that not only meet but often exceed our clients’ expectations. It’s this synergy, fueled by trust and collaboration, that makes interior design such a rewarding profession.
