We were lucky to catch up with Brandon Love recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brandon, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
When I first went from idea to execution I already had a mental picture of what I wanted to offer. I wanted the product, the sneakers/collectibles, to be showcased like art in a museum. I took inspiration from Sotheby’s Auction House and how they showcase the art.
I had the idea to showcase sneakers in this way when I realized that their was stories behind a lot of sneakers whether it was surrounding the fanatic releases or what an athlete did while wearing the pair. I’m always interested in the stories attached to what I come across so I decided to make a platform like that.
One thing I struggled with early on in the process was finding different pieces of memorabilia or collectibles to up the ante. I didn’t have a large connection in this specific part of the sneaker industry but overtime I realized that people recommend others to me and it adds up to a sustainable amount of product to buy each month.
The next months took some course correcting mainly because I had to go to my consumer base. I joined different platforms and tried different forms of outreach until I felt like I found where our target audience is most receptive. Now, we are in the process of over-communicating our identity so customers now exactly who we are and what they get at Void Articles.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The biggest thing is following through on your promises. None of my negotiations when buying shoes are legally binding, but if I’m reaching out to a seller about shoes or a piece of memorabilia, I want to make sure I’m following through with my end of the bargain. Over time people start recommending you to their network, based on your level of service- which in my case is top priority.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
I would say it has. When I first got into the sneaker world, I was buying and selling shoes just for myself. I would buy one pair , and then sell it when I wanted to wear a different pair. Then, I started just selling shoes on the side to make a little bit of money during my Senior year of high school. By the time I started studying at Loyola Marymount University, in 2016, it had become a full time job generating enough income to pay my bills. I spent a lot of time outside of the classroom practicing what I learned in my business classes. Scaling took patience, resilience, and faith.
