Once upon a time, nine years ago, I had a dream—a dream that I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, would one day become a reality. In that ethereal realm of slumber, an idea was born, a seed planted by the mysterious workings of my subconscious. When I awoke the next morning, the idea was vivid in my mind, and I wasted no time in diving into research.

To my astonishment, after extensive searching, I found nothing similar to my dream-inspired concept. Fueled by excitement and determination, I decided to put pen to paper and sketch out my vision, allowing the idea to materialize in front of me. It was at this moment, as I gazed upon the drawings, that I fell deeply in love with the potential of this creation.

In my pursuit to protect and bring this vision to life, I reached out to patent attorneys. The first encounter was discouraging; the attorney merely laughed at my idea. Undeterred, I pressed on and connected with a young, understanding attorney who saw the value in my concept. Hiring her, we conducted a thorough professional search, confirming that my idea was indeed unique. With that assurance, I eagerly filed for a patent.

Yet, the journey from idea to execution was no smooth sail. It demanded immense patience and resilience, testing the limits of my determination. Rejections and setbacks were constant companions on this voyage. But I persevered, knowing deep within that my dream was worth every trial.

Then, in the year 2021, my world faced a personal loss—my dear mother passed away. Grieving and grappling with the enormity of the loss, life threw an unexpected opportunity my way. I was invited to write a chapter in a book, and I accepted, hoping it would help heal my heart by recounting my journey.

As fate would have it, my story found its way into the hands of kindred spirits—authors who were moved by my experiences. Among them was a stranger who, touched by my narrative, reached out to connect. A higher power seemed to orchestrate this meeting, for she saw the potential in my idea and believed in its brilliance.

Together, we created a brand, V-JSHAVE NATION, and embarked on a new chapter of this incredible journey. Despite facing funding challenges, our combined efforts bore fruit. Through our innovative and exciting product line, we not only found a manufacturer but also secured the means to bring my patented product to life. The dreams of nine years ago were now on the verge of becoming a reality, set to grace the market in just a few short months.

Gratitude and appreciation filled my heart for the opportunities and amazing individuals that life had brought into my path. As I tirelessly worked on my patent and reached out to countless companies, life threw a curveball at me. My oldest sister, Jodi, fell seriously ill, and I opened my heart and home to care for her. The weight of her illness and the responsibility it entailed weighed heavily on my shoulders. But with immense love and unwavering determination, I embraced the role of a caregiver.

Amidst this emotional storm, tragedy struck again. Just four months later, on Mother’s Day, I received the devastating news of my sister Misti’s unexpected passing. The task of sharing this heart-wrenching news with my mother, already in a fragile state, added to my burden of grief. The pain was unfathomable, yet I found the strength within to support my family and navigate through this indescribable loss.

Soon after, my mother faced severe health issues and a lengthy hospital stay. My days were a constant juggling act between caring for her and staying true to my dreams. The toll on my emotional well-being was immense, but I stood resilient, providing strength to my family while pursuing my goals.

Yet, life had more tests in store. The passing of my sister Kristi pushed me to the brink of despair. The darkness threatened to consume me, but a promise made to my mother to remain strong kept me afloat. My mother’s passing, a mere four months later, shattered my world. In the face of this profound loss, I endured a mental breakdown and wrestled with the purpose of my existence.

But within the darkness, a glimmer of hope emerged. Through prayer and the grace of a higher power, I found the strength to persevere. Slowly but steadily, opportunities presented themselves, offering me a chance to rebuild the fragments of my shattered life. Armed with the resilience and courage instilled in me by my mother, I began to reclaim my life.

Today, I stand as a testament to the strength of the human spirit. Despite the unimaginable losses and heartache, I’ve accomplished my dreams, launched a business, and are on the brink of introducing my patented product to the world. My journey serves as a beacon of hope for all, a reminder that even in the darkest hours, there is the potential for beauty to emerge from the ashes. At a time when grief threatened to consume me, when focusing on dreams seemed insurmountable, I chose to adapt. Adapting meant finding new ways to hold onto hope, new avenues to channel my pain. It meant acknowledging the heartache and using it as a catalyst for growth.

My journey became a dance between the sorrow of loss and the determination to move forward. Pivoting became second nature, a skill honed by life’s unforgiving shifts. Each loss, each wave of grief, pushed me to pivot toward a stronger version of myself.
