Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eric. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Eric, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I have three projects that are my most meaningful to date. The first one was when the regional manager of Pepsi reached out to me and wanted me to do a couple pairs of shoes for them. I wasn’t sure if it was real until he invited me to the company building. The second project stems from the Pepsi project. So one of the CEOs of Pepsi wore my shoes sideline at a Nuggets game. His friends seen them and wanted to get some done as well. So this was 4 pair of shoes sideline at the Denver Nuggets game, And this was during the championship run. I never knew that my work Would end up in the hands are on the feet of people who are CEO’s of fortune 500 companies and well established business men and women. Now my third project is something I’ve been doing for the past 3 or 4 years, I don’t need custom shoes every year during Christmas to the children’s hospital. This is something I plan on doing until I’m no longer on this Earth. I get a joy out of it, it’s fun the children in the hospital are excited when they get the shoes…so yeah It can’t get better than that for me when it comes to something that I’ve done that is meaningful.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
So growing up I’ve always liked shoes I’ve liked clothes and fashion but I wasn’t fortunate enough to have all the brand names and new things that were coming out. So I told myself when I get older Shoes would be one thing that I Never have to worry about. Once I start getting shoes I started noticing they didn’t have the colors and things that I wanted so I got into customize and Panama on shoes. Once I got out of the armyI was able to post more Work on social media. And I’ve always had a passion for clothing So I decided whyNot go to school to learn how toBut become a shoe cobbler. I couldn’t find A For shoe cobblers so I went to fashion School. And that just brings out more creativity Which I enjoy. As for my end gamer goals I would like to be a Professional stylist along with still customizing shoes.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I don’t know if it’s just an artist thing or people in general, but I always feel Like my work is never Good enough. I always feel like I could have done something Better. No matter how excited The customer is how much It like it deep down insideI feel like I could have done more. But I started to Tell myself as long as the customer likes it and they’re happy with it, I did a good job.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I’ve had to learn not to compare myself to other people or compared my works how the people’s work. You never know what they’re what they’ve done what they’re going through how long they’ve been doing what they’re doing. I watch certain people on Social media , and I’ve learned not to measure my success so there’s or their success to mine. If you do this It can be very depressing or disappointing Knowing that you’re not at the place You want to be, When someone else Is.
