We recently connected with Laura Bostrom and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about your team building process? How did you recruit and train your team and knowing what you know now would you have done anything differently?
Everyday Order was a one-woman show for 2 years until I brought on help. This helped grow the business because I could take on more jobs, get them done quickly and scale the business. Five years in, I hired our first employee and have grown to a team of 10. Believe it or not, most of our employees came from word of mouth or social media. I think people are drawn to organizing as a career because of the flexability, creativity and creating systems that change peoples lives. If i was starting today, I would have defiently hired sooner!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Yes, I stumbled into organizing in 2016. Previously, I was a dental hygienist and although it was a great job, I just knew I wasn’t born to do that type of work. When I was on maternity leave with my first child, my husband encouraged me to open up my own at professional organizing business. Over the years, our mission has evolved to be the go to organizer for moms who want to have control over their space so they can consistently show up as the best version of themselves. I want people to know that the life they dream of is possible. It is possible to live in a space or work in a space where you feel calm, happy and productive. Systems in your home create structure so you can have a greater sense of control over your space and the real value is you will have more time for what matters most!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Google has hands-down, been the best source of new clients for me. I have tried to consistently show up for my clients, and provide them with a great experience, which has led to many Google reviews. When people search on Google and see the social proof of others telling their story, it helps the new clients by end and trust you much sooner. I haven’t dabbled in Google ads, but that’s something I’m going to explore!
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I keep in touch with my clients through a bi-monthly email, which shares tips, product tricks, and bits of my social media mixed in. Even if the clients don’t open it, I love the fact that I’m keeping top of mind. This way, when they are ready to organize their next space, or they’re moving, they don’t hesitate to reach out. Most of the time when I send an email, I am able to reactivate some old clients which is always the goal.
