Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Denisha Surney. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Denisha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
The first time I new I wanted to take the path of content creation is while getting in YouTube more and watching some of my favorite influencers doing it. Then, once I learned I could get free products from my favorite brands I was all in! Now I have had the pleasure of collaborating with brands I could have only dreamed of.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Denisha and I am a content creator and self-taught makeup artist. I fist got into the industry watching YouTube and my favorite creators. I saw how fun it looked and new I know be just as successful, since it was something enjoyed. That how is how I also got into the makeup world. I love creating content for different brands and being able to essentially share products I love with my supports. Makeup has also been a great outlet for me to both express myself and challenge myself. my most recent boss has become SFX makeup and I can’t wait to dive into that more. I am most proud of my ability to keep going and never give up. I love learning and striving to be the best!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is having brands reach out to me and wanting to continue to work with me. Also, the amount of support I have and people rooting for me to win is unmatched! It keeps me wanting to keep going and prove that dreams can come true with consistency and dedication.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In my view, society can support artists and creatives just by purchasing work, sharing on social media, like content and just by showing up. A lot people don’t realize the amount of time and work it takes to create content and even the free support goes a long way in the end.
