We recently connected with Krista Kallish and have shared our conversation below.
Krista, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
If you asked a thousand people what it takes to be successful, you would receive a thousand different answers. I would imagine most people would define success as making a large amount of money. Of course we all want to be successful in that way, but the path to which we get there is what it takes to be successful.
To me, success means the power to choose what direction I want my business to go in. My success is fueled by my pure
enthusiasm and dedication for the skincare industry and changing lives. How are you suppose to sell and sustain a product or a brand that you are not passionate about? In my opinion, you can’t.
I have achieved success through recognizing my opportunities of growth, developing plans to put my ideas into action and my constant pursuit of knowledge. Knowledge is power and the more I know, the more I am able to instill confidence in my clients. Setting realistic exceptions for my clients has allowed me to create a community that supports my business. This continuous support has allowed me to create steady growth within my brand. Lastly, knowing that I will make mistakes along the way but trusting that I will learn from them is what keeps my business steadily moving forward. My favorite inspirational quote that has helped me in times of doubt is a quote from the movie “Field of Dreams,” where actor Kevin Costner says, “if you build it, they will come.” My passion, ambition and persistence propels me to higher levels of success year after year.
Krista, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Like most people in the skincare industry, our success is powered by our own skin struggles as teens and young adults. My journey with my own skin lead me to where I am today. I strive to find the root cause of my clients skincare concerns whether it be diet, lifestyle changes or other internal and external factors.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Starting a business was the scariest thing I have ever done. Not because I questioned my capabilities but because of capital. I can remember clear as day driving home from my 9-5, M-F job crying on the phone to my mom about how miserable I was in my former career. I can remember saying to her, “that’s it, I’m quitting my job, going back to school and I am going to pursue my dream career.” Without hesitation, she said “I think that’s a great idea.”
Before I knew it, I was 27 and a student again. I went back to waitressing five days a week. I put every dime I earned back towards my tuition. After 6 months of being a full time aesthetic student, I continued to waitress full time for another 2 years to supplement my income because I wasn’t making enough money as an aesthetician. Eventually, I felt comfortable enough to quit my waitressing job because my clientele was starting to grow. This allowed me to focus 100% on growing my business.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I started Face It Aesthetics fresh out of school at a local gym. I had a private suite and was paying a percentage of my profits to the gym owner. In my opinion, this was the perfect set up for a new aesthetician with minimal income. I received a phone call on a Wednesday morning from the owner of the gym saying the gym had been sold to new owners and that I had three days to vacate the premises. I panicked! I had nowhere to go and at least ten appointments the following week.
The next day, I had an appointment to see my chiropractor and like always, he asked me how I was doing. I told him what was going on and without hesitation he graciously offered to move his office around so that I a room for my business. Quickly after I left my appointment, I rounded up my friends and family to help me move and by Monday I was up and running in a new space. This situation taught me to keep faith when obstacles are thrown my way.
