Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Annalisa Giolo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Annalisa, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I had always known I wanted to be an artist. I don’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t singing, dancing, planning for a show, creating. I knew I would do anything to be able to continue creating and producing works of art with a purpose. I kept studying, worked in many fields and embarked a very long journey that brought me from my small hometown near Venice (Italy), through vibrant Barcelona, all the way to the creative hub of Los Angeles, where I live now. My artistic path began very early, with music, dance and theater, and I knew in my heart that I would try to find all the ways to keep art as the biggest and most important part of my life.
The learning process to become a better artist, a better producer, and to be as authentic as I can, continues to this day.

Annalisa, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Inanna, I am a singer, dancer and producer and I am dedicating all my work to nature, animals and the future of planet Earth. I had been in several other music projects before becoming Inanna, but a few years ago, just right after moving to Los Angeles, I felt the need to use my music and artistic expression to speak up for the Earth and all earthlings. We are living a time in which so much is at stake, our climate is changing and the age of the Anthropocene has been very tough on the natural world: I wanted to lend a voice (literally) to lands and animals, to the unheard. I wanted to use music and imagery to inspire change, witness the grand Story of our planet and the planetary drama we are living. And most of all, I wanted to inspire hopeful visions for the future, a future where humans are stewards and protectors of the Earth and all its unique and precious creatures. My first song release was in May 2019, in four years I managed to release more than 15 singles and 12 music videos, all independently produced. This has been possible only because of a lot of hard work, and the help and support of many creative talents, my producer and my fans.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My mission, in everything I do (both in music and events) is to deliver a message of reverence for the Earth and all its inhabitants. What drives me is the need to speak up, and to use music as a powerful form of activism. Music has the power to move, and gather us as a collective. My songs often speak from the “we” point of view: a “we” that suggests a movement, an alliance, where the interactions between humans, technology, animals and nature are witnessed, and given a voice. A song can connect with the deepest layers of our soul, and can inspire us to come together, take action, and be better humans for the generations to come.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My resilience has increased through all the obstacles and hardships lived in these tough -but rewarding- years in Barcelona and Los Angeles: I changed Country (home, friends, jobs, roots) twice: from Italy to Spain, and from Spain to the United States. I battled through a lot of economic struggle because of the costs of keeping a music project up independently, I have completed songs and music videos in spite of low budgets, sand storms in the desert, last minute changes, one denied visa because of the pandemic, absence of a team or managers, and a long wait for a green card. What kept me going was -and is- my mission. If I stopped doing what I am doing, I wouldn’t be fully myself. Resilience is built when you have a “why”, when you know that you would do what you do under any circumstance, because it is the most important thing in your life.
