We caught up with the brilliant and insightful O’Dasha Collins a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
O’Dasha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
When I graduated college in 2018, I was looking for my next “thing” so I started a YouTube channel DashofDaysh TV. I did it for fun for the first year or so until I really noticed how life-changing social media could be. Covid hit in 2020 and it drove me to find additional sources of income. Here we are in 2023 striving towards full-time entrepreneurship.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
After starting my YouTube DashofDaysh TV in 2018, I just shared everything I could think of. Try on hauls, day-in-the-life videos, mom tips, and everything in between. From 2019-2021 I was a licensed financial representative, which led to me sharing more content in that field.
Today I teach my babes to save their coins, own their confidence, and build their empires. I try to encourage others to live their best life while looking their best, and building the best for their futures. I offer fashion tips and financial literacy, and I share my journey as a mompreneur of 2 kids living in Dallas, Texas.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I think this goes back to me having my first child at 16. It was pretty scary, and I thought my life was over but God had other plans for my life. I went on to graduate my high school class in the top ten at number 7! I then went to college at the University of Central Arkansas where I got my B.S. in Science and a minor in Mathematics. I graduated with a 3.1 all while being a full-time student, working full-time, and being a full-time mom. I also joined the illustrious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and served as second vice president, participating in step shows, events, and community service. Now being 27 and realizing how much I actually accomplished, I’m truly proud of myself. If I can do it, anybody can!

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Just to start with intentionality. I wish I had known about systems and automation beforehand, and how to build an audience that cares about you. I think that’s so important in the long haul. to know what you want as a result of your journey. That way you can reverse engineer and make sure you are actually hitting your goals.
