We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alex Cerutti. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alex below.
Alex, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Since day one!
As far as I can remember I’ve always had an interest in the arts. But it wasn’t until around age 11 when I discovered street art and murals that I distinctly remember my creative spark igniting. It was the first time I felt I found something that was uniquely mine and not something someone else put me on to.
Around age 14, everything really changed. I discovered and became obsessed with screen printing, a medium that allowed me to print both shirts and stickers. It quickly became all I could think about, any chance I got would be spent learning, printing, and perfecting my skills. It became my first love quite honestly.
That same year I also joined my high school’s art program and was immediately placed in an invigorating creative environment surrounded by some serious talent. I remember it feeling like jumping straight into the deep end; a feeling that really pushed me to start taking things way more seriously.
However, even though it all makes sense now looking back, in retrospect I recall those early years being filled with a lot of uncertainty. And I think that’s just part of being young, your lack of experience naturally leaves you in that state, but my junior year is when that really flipped on its head. I was simultaneously taking a physics class and a college-level art class and the two environments couldn’t be more polar opposite. And it was that exact polarization that left me without a doubt in my mind which one I knew I wanted to be in. The creative life was the one for me and since then it’s been nothing but full steam ahead.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I currently split my creative life in half. On one end I’m a graphic designer, where I use my creative skills to bring other people’s wildest ideas to life. And on the other, I’m an artist, where I express my own thoughts, feelings, ideas, and create the things I want to see come to life.
Design is my service to the world, while art is my contribution — at least that’s how I like to look at it.
To go into more detail: as a graphic designer, I like to keep my directional foot planted in the music industry, working with and for other creatives. This involves anything from tour artwork, live visuals, merch, branding, and everything in between. I’m a bit of a jack of all trades, so I’m constantly jumping the stones that are my creative skills and abilities, it definitely keeps me excited.
As an artist, I focus on creating a colorful world of abstract shapes, graphics, patterns, and typography. I love to make work that is loud and bold, manifesting itself through posters, stickers, clothing, murals, experiences, and more. I don’t like putting myself into any boxes and I love learning new things, so I’m always experimenting with new ways to approach and present my work.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
At its core, Change The Game is about challenging yourself, pushing beyond your first thoughts, taking command of your own destiny, and doing so in a creative and self-expressive way.
The name itself is a mantra; a reminder to think differently, to break from conventions, and to be open to seeing the world in different ways.
We all hold the power to make our lives better for ourselves and those around us, so why not take advantage of it?

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
That moment when you double-take, full-stop, and take a deep breath. A moment of awe, inspiration – when a little spark ignites inside you. It’s a special feeling that doesn’t happen often, but when it does you never forget it. THIS is the most rewarding thing for me. It’s the feeling I felt when my creative spark first ignited and it’s something I strive for my work to evoke in other people. If I can accomplish that, then without a doubt it’s one of the most rewarding aspects of being an artist.
