Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yvette Caslin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Yvette, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
In January 2020, amidst the unfolding pandemic, I embarked on a new venture, the establishment of my business consulting and accounting firm, elegantly named “The Pinkprint LLC.” This name pays homage to the artistic genius of two fellow Sagittarii, Jay-Z and Nikki Minaj, drawing inspiration from Jay-Z’s seminal album, “The Blueprint,” and Nikki Minaj’s transformative work, “The Pinkprint.” “The Pinkprint” represents more than just a title; it embodies a playbook. We serve as guides to crafting success from within, a testament to the power of imagination and the art of visualization. Within our community, one discovers the strength of unwavering determination, the wellspring of creativity, and the means to manifest wealth, abundance, and boundless joy.
We extend our invitation to our world where excellence and stick-to-itiveness are paramount. At “The Pinkprint,” we assist entrepreneurs and small businesses in reshaping their financial narratives, creating the harmonious notes that transform aspirations into tangible realities.
Yvette, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Dr. Yvette Caslin – an acclaimed storyteller, a seasoned communicator, and a recognized leader in financial literacy. My journey to success is a testament to my unwavering determination. I balanced my career ascent with the responsibilities of parenthood, embarking on a diverse professional odyssey. I began my career in the nonprofit sector as a Blood Drive Consultant for the American Red Cross. I later transitioned into municipal governance as a Planner for the City of Atlanta. In this role, I played pivotal roles in grant writing, nurtured valuable vendor relationships, and championed the Atlanta Self-Sufficiency Action Program (ASAP), a collaborative initiative between the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency and the Atlanta Housing Authority.
My entrepreneurial journey began during my employment with two prominent black multimillionaires. One of them is the proprietor of Afrocentric Network, renowned as the largest importer of African goods, while the other is the visionary behind ‘rolling out,’ an influential media brand distinguished for crafting sophisticated, one-of-a-kind content centered around urban lifestyle, entertainment, and music. Within the dynamic arena of black multimedia, I ascended to the echelons of top-tier executive leadership, wielding substantial influence in media and entertainment.
In January 2020, I initiated a transformative venture – The Pinkprint LLC. This strategic consulting and financial services firm aims to bridge socioeconomic divides. My unwavering commitment lies in advocating for cultural heritage and Black generational wealth, achieved through financial education, astute tax strategies, and real estate expertise. The Pinkprint delivers tailored services to individuals, entrepreneurs, and small businesses.
My academic journey landed me a B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of West Georgia and an M.S. in Urban Studies, focusing on Nonprofit/Organizational Management, from Georgia State University’s Andrew Young School of Policy Studies.
In recognition of my contributions and expertise, I was granted an honorary doctorate in theological studies by Next Dimension University in 2019, based in Rancho Cucamonga, California.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I found myself expecting a child at the tender age of 14. At that time, I was a dedicated cheerleader and an honor student, deeply immersed in advanced placement studies. Regrettably, I had to relinquish these pursuits. Following my first football season, I had no choice but to step down from the cheerleading squad. Shortly after, at the start of the following year, I decided to transfer to a different high school with an accelerated curriculum tailored to support students who were lagging behind in their studies, enabling them to graduate on schedule. My proactive nature compelled me to take this step, as I was determined to stay caught up academically. This urgency stemmed from my due date being in May and the school year concluding in June. It’s remarkable how life unfolds; despite the challenges, I welcomed my daughter into the world at 15 and proudly received my high school diploma at 16.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
A well-thought-out onboarding plan is paramount in our approach. I’ve always believed in the power of listening, understanding that I have two ears and just one mouth for a reason. Before we embark on any engagement, I make it a practice to conduct a minimum of three meetings with our clients. Developing familiarity enables us to build a solid foundation and ensures we align our goals and expectations. Confidence in our pricing strategy is a cornerstone of our service. We firmly believe in providing added value at every step of our journey. Our primary focus is serving our clients’ needs, recognizing that dealing with financial matters and taxes can be an intensely emotional experience.
We approach each client with the utmost respect and honor their emotions throughout the process, understanding that managing finances and taxes often stir deeply personal sentiments.
