Katherine , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success is a goal that many people aspire to achieve in various aspects of life, whether it’s in their careers, personal relationships, or personal development. While there are a number of factors that contribute to success, three fundamental principles are crucial: consistency, structure, and discipline.
First, consistency is the foundation. Consistency is the unwavering commitment to a particular course of action or behavior over time. It’s steady and persistent effort that ultimately yields significant results.
Consistent practice and effort are key to mastering any skill. Those who consistently invest time and effort tend to become experts in their chosen field.
Consistency in actions and words builds trust with others. In personal and professional relationships, trust is a pillar of success. People are more likely to rely on and support individuals who are consistently dependable.
Success involves setting and achieving goals. Consistency helps keep focus and momentum toward these goals. Over time little pieces of progress adds up, leading to bigger accomplishments.
Second, structure refers to the organization and orderliness of one’s actions and routines. It provides a framework that streamlines efforts and maximizes efficiency.
Structured time management allows individuals to allocate their resources effectively. Prioritizing tasks, setting deadlines, and creating schedules help prevent procrastination and enhance productivity.
A structured approach helps individuals define and refine their goals. By breaking down larger goals into smaller steps, people can maintain a clear path to success, reducing overwhelming feelings and uncertainty.
A structured mindset allows for adaptability. When challenges arise, people with a structured approach are better equipped to adjust their strategies, identify solutions, and stay on course.
Third, discipline is the ability to control yourself and to make choices that align with long-term goals. It’s the commitment to the pursuit of success.
Success is rarely a straight line. It often involves overcoming setbacks, adversity, and temptations to deviate from the chosen path. Discipline empowers people to keep going, despite challenges.
Discipline ensures that people consistently put in the effort required to achieve their goals. It’s the main force behind the commitment to practice, improve, and excel day after day.
Discipline helps individuals focus on the bigger picture. It encourages delayed gratification, enabling people to make choices that benefit their long-term success, even if it means sacrificing short-term pleasures.
Consistency, structure, and discipline are the pillars of success in various aspects of life. When combined, these principles create a powerful aligning that propels people toward their goals and aspirations. Remember that success is not a destination but a journey, and these principles will serve as your faithful companions on that journey.

Katherine , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
The first time I interviewed with Voyage ATL, my business was 218th Place Beauty Supplies. Since then, I have went to Esthetician school and earned my Esthetics License. So now you can find L.E. behind my name. It’s been a wonderful journey thus far, and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the future holds.
My business name is now 218th Place Beauty & Esthetics. I absolutely love helping feel like “themselves again ,” or back to normal. Sometimes we need that extra person that’s willing to help out in order for us to realize that self-care is very important.
In my suite/spa, I offer waxing, facials and lash extensions. I do not have a favorite service, but I am noticing that there are a lot of lash girls coming forward and wanting extensions. I love that! Lashes are an instant way to enhance your look without spending too much money or time.
I think what sets me apart is the fact that I truly care about all my clients. I let them know when I notice unusual things. I make sure to educate them when I introduce new products/services. I want them to walk away feeling confident in the services I provide to my clients. I also make sure to keep the environment light and welcoming.
What I want most people to know about 218th Place Beauty & Esthetics, is that we are continuously improving and learning. Step out of your comfort zone with me so that we can take you as a whole, to the next level of your beauty journey. I promise you will not leave dissatisfied with your service.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I was working in corporate while going to Esthetician School. It was rough trying to break out of the comfortable corporate life, to try and get into a whole new field. It was nerve-wrecking and definitely took me a while before I took a leap of faith. I even had a few jobs in the esthetics industry, but they never seemed to work out. It was like my instincts kept telling me to work for myself. Initially I was scared to make the full leap, and ended up working for myself part-time while still working in corporate. Eventually, I got so fed up with the typical corporate environment that I just decided I had to either take the leap or not be happy. From there, I started looking at leasing a suite. I looked high and low, trying to decide what area I wanted to be in. When I saw the ad for the salon suites I am currently in, something stuck out to me. It was the same esthetic I was wanting to provide for my clients. From there I did the tour and signed the lease. I’ve been happy here and cannot wait to see what is next for 218th Place Beauty & Esthetics.

Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
A near death moment for my business was when I first started taking clients. My prices were very low because I wanted to attract people. I was spending way more in expenses and supplies than I was making. I was consistently stressed feeling like my clients would not stick around if I raised my prices. However, I knew that my business would not last long if I did not increase service prices. After much research and comparing, I decided that the increase was necessary. I wanted to level up the kind of products I was using, and create a more peaceful environment for my clients. I started our working from home, dedicating part of my living room to my business.
In order for me to level up, create a balance between work and home, and give my clients the experience they deserve, I had to increase pricing. Since then, I’ve had more clients come to see me and rave about how they feel special versus feeling like a number at other establishments. It makes me feel like I did the right thing and I cannot wait to meet more of my future clients!
