Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Briana Pena. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Briana, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I knew I wanted to be a content creator in my early highschool days , I just never took the chance . I was afraid of being judged or embarrassed.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a 27-year-old Latina content creator based in Idaho. I have been involved in content creation for about a year and a half and have always aspired to pursue a career as an influencer. I started by watching other influencers on TikTok and YouTube and took notes. Eventually, I reached out to a brand on Instagram and got my first collaboration in June 2022 .
I provide various content creation services, including product photography, product review/tutorial, testimonials, voiceovers, unboxings, first impressions, sponsored posts, and walk-throughs. What sets me apart from others is my passion for my content and what I do. I strive to inspire others who want to become influencers and encourage them to pursue their dreams.
I am most proud of my collaboration with Khloe Kardashian and have also published two articles. Your content creation process involves crafting experiences using brands’ products to create tailored content for their target audience. I conduct market research to drive engagement and conversions. I combine branding, current trends, and product ranges with a fast and professional service, ensuring quick and efficient turnaround timescales. Additionally, i believe that having a large number of followers is not the requirement for content creation; engagement is more important. You encourage those with a creative eye to start creating and posting content without letting others be a hindrance.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When I first started building my audience on social media, I already had 2,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok. This initial following made it easier for me to be noticed by brands. However, I didn’t have a media kit or portfolio at the time, so I focused on posting my work consistently every day. By doing this, I caught the attention of a few brands.
I also worked on growing my YouTube channel, which started with only 2 subscribers. Through consistent posting and engagement, I managed to increase my subscriber count to 316. Similarly, my TikTok account grew from 2,000 followers to 3,161 It may have been a slow process, but I am steadily growing my audience.
In order to expand my reach, I joined social media growth groups and engaged in group chats. I also made it a point to watch and learn from other influencers. My advice for those just starting to build their social media presence is to focus on building your personal brand first. This means consistently posting your work and showcasing your skills. Even if you feel like you don’t have anything to record, remember that anything can be turned into content. So go out and record!
I suggest joining Instagram and TikTok growth groups on platforms like Facebook. Engaging with other creators is also beneficial as it helps push your content out to a wider audience, ultimately resulting in more followers. Remember to be consistent, engage with your audience, and never stop learning and improving your craft.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In my view, there are several ways that society can best support artists, creatives, and foster a thriving creative ecosystem:
1. Recognition and Validation: Society should recognize and validate the importance of art and creativity as a vital and valuable part of our culture. This can be done through supporting and attending art exhibitions, performances, and creative events, as well as acknowledging the impact and contributions of artists in various fields.
2. Investment in Education: Providing accessible and comprehensive arts education is crucial for nurturing creativity and supporting artists. Society can prioritize funding and resources for arts education programs in schools, community centers, and cultural institutions. This includes not only fine arts but also supporting creative subjects like music, theater, dance, and design.
3. Financial Support: Artists often face financial challenges, so society can provide financial support through grants, scholarships, and funding opportunities. This can help artists sustain their careers, pursue creative projects, and contribute to the local economy.
4. Collaboration and Networking: Encouraging collaboration and networking opportunities among artists and creatives fosters a supportive community. Society can facilitate platforms and spaces where artists can connect, collaborate, and share resources, ideas, and inspiration.
5. Public Art and Cultural Spaces: Investing in public art initiatives and creating dedicated spaces for artistic expression can enhance the cultural landscape of a community. This includes commissioning public art installations, supporting local galleries, theaters, and cultural centers, and providing affordable studio spaces for artists.
6. Intellectual Property Protection: Society can ensure that artists’ intellectual property rights are protected. This includes enforcing copyright laws and providing legal support and resources to artists to safeguard their work and creativity.
7. Changing Perceptions: Challenging stereotypes and perceptions about the value and viability of careers in the arts is crucial. Society can encourage a shift in mindset that recognizes artistic careers as legitimate and valuable, promoting diverse perspectives and creative endeavors.
By implementing these measures, society can create an environment that supports artists, creatives, and a thriving creative ecosystem, allowing them to flourish and contribute to the cultural and economic fabric of society.
