Quin, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?

I think you should always be open to idea of working as a team especially with people you already know and that have a passion to do it with others. My Brother and I started this just as us two, and over the years we have had so much help from our parents, my brother’s wife, my girlfriend and many of our friends. We couldn’t have done any of this without them. I think family should be in business together if they all have the same passion and drive to see the business succeed, and We proudly have that here!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

At Cozy Toes, We proudly sell handmade sherpa lined footed sweatpants with custom grips on the bottom. We sell a variety of colors and sizes and primarily sell online and in malls, Christmas Markets, and Santa’s Villages. Our Cozy Toes’ teams traveled to over 16 states in 3 months this past season. This style of work really got our teams close and has built a great standard for how we strive to keep our work environment at the Cozy Crew. We are currently expanding into 5 new mall kiosk fronts at top rated malls in the southeast this winter season. We hope to gain our footing in our expanding in person sales channels this upcoming year, as this is the first year we will be established in malls. We are also licensed with the University of South Alabama to make Custom USA Cozy Toes! We have met so many different types of people traveling around the country in the past year, and seeing people connect on the satisfaction of our products, truly gives us the motivation to keep Cozy Toes moving forward. Many people we meet love seeing how young we are and the attitude and energy we bring to promote the happiness of being Cozy. We’ve had people send us videos of their families dancing in their Cozy Toes, to even being made a Cozy Toes Jingle! The love for our pants we sell gives us gratitude to keep developing more. We currently have our new design made for this upcoming fall/winter and we are excited to see customer feedback!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

It all started in 2018 when two brothers in college were sitting together one morning. Quin had pulled the ends of his pj pants over his feet, causing his pants to sag. Zane the older brother asked why Quin why doesn’t he just put on socks? The brothers conversed over this and thought we just need a half onesie to solve our problem. As we scanned the web, we found ourselves walking into our new business idea. So we ultimately had to apply for a patent and kickstart our Cozy Toes!

When looking at a grand scheme of things, you have to stop being meticulous on every tiny detail. Over the past 4 years, we have built up great business relationships as well as customer relationships. We now spend months planning our winter schedule and we have to give ourselves the understanding that it will never go perfect! We got to enjoy the present moment while we are on the road, entertaining ourselves with new cultures and places we’ve never been.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

This has easily been our biggest fish to fry. My brother and I started this with the little money we saved up from serving and nursing jobs while in college. Building our finances organically as a small business is the hardest task to accomplish as a small business. But it can happen for you, it just takes a lot more time and effort. But rest assured, it builds mental character and you will learn what it takes to run a successful company.
