Taylor René , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you feel you or your work has ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized? If so, tell us the story and how/why it happened and if there are any interesting learnings or insights you took from the experience?
As a true creative, from a young age, I have known that I was different. In moments where I just wanted to create, I had to grow up really fast. I had to deal with and face visiting my dad in prison as a little girl, while also taking dance classes at Art Linkletter Dance Studio. Life experiences like that continued, where for example, I joined the military, and was excelling nicely from private E-1 to E-4, got to perform for troops, and join the US Army Soldier Show, and then was tragically gang raped by 4 soldiers. This incident alone, changed and shaped the rest of my adult life. I have survived Rape, Death, Childhood Trauma, Abuse, Being Cheated on, Divorce, Bullying, and intense public humiliation…..but here I am….still here, just wanting to use my gifts and talents that I love and was born with. When I have wanted to scream out in pain, and my mental health was suffering, I have always returned time and again to dance, song writing, music, art, and performing. I may not ever be understood by the world, but my creativity gets me.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
When I was 3 years old, my grandmother told me that I was always bobbing up and down and dancing! So when I was 4 years old, my family put me in dance. I took Tap (my favorite), Jazz, and Ballet. From there I went on to dance in high school, Made the Varsity Pom Team, and danced at my highschool graduation! I already touched on my military experiences, but I even remember pulling multiple shifts of “Fire Guard” in basic training, just so that I could find the time to dance in the great room after hours! Ending my military career as an Honorably Discharged Veteran, I feel really proud that I was able to turn trauma and tragedy into Triumph by trying out for the NFL Seattle Seagals and making it on my first try. Things designed to break me, just……didn’t. Things hurt of course, but I am thankful for the path that I am on creatively. Fast forward to now, and I have a whole Taylor René Brand now!! I have my music now, constant performance opportunities, and I have the accolades of performing at the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, and Headlined Tucson Pride, Imperial Pride, The Lil Nas x Concert, and so many other amazing things!!
I want my followers to know that I am a very real, down to earth, and laid back person. I have a past, and I have history, but I am truly filled with love, genuine joy for life, and I appreciate every single person near and far who support me. I LOVE people…and anyone who reciprocates positive energy with me!!!
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
In my view, I wish that there were 2 things available to support artists…. 1. I feel that each lane of creativity has become more focused on the “money right now” mentality. Back in the day if you rapped or sang, people gathered to do so, and collab/create out the love of shared talent. Now….to progress a song, or choreograph a routine, or go for a huge opportunity, everyone has a price tag, which is understandable, but a lot of people are insanely talented and don’t progress due to lack of funds. I want to see more thoughtful support! Share stuff! Play your friends music BEFORE or alongside your favorite celebrity music! Email or send your friends art, music, endeavors to your network of friends! There is a lot you can do for Free!
2. I wish there was more education or access to creative to be successful. So many people are being taken advantage of, or asked to pay to play, or have no recourse when you pay for services and get ripped off. We all understand the grind, but can it be a little easier? And Faster? 🤣
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I am currently chasing 4 dreams right now!!! I’m an ambitious one lol!!!
First Up; I am vying for the title QUEEN for Queen Pageantry Systems! The pageant is December 10th, 2023 in New Orleans!! If anyone would like to sponsor and support my journey, my handles are $TaylorReneDiva24 on Cashapp, or @TaylorReneDiva24 on Venmo!!
Next Up, it has been a life long goal of mine to be able to perform at Coachella! 2024 is my year, and I am certain that it will finally manifest!!!
Then…….on August 24, 2024…….I will be getting MARRIED in Lake Tahoe!!! I’ll be marrying my absolute best friend, and love of my life Regi Kaneubbe!! She has been a solid rock, Love source, and proven soul mate for me, and I can’t wait to say I do!
Lastly, I hope to Officially Launch my music and get to create and design my own Taylor René US Tour, called Bold & Brazen!! I hope to make this dream come true if it’s the Last thing I do here on earth!
