We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Laura Rose a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
It was the end of 2020. I had hit a wall with my business. As I saw it, I was going to go all in or do something else. I had heard of this business coach who helped people like me transition their business online. Feeling curious, I decided to hop on a discovery call and see what the program entailed. Before my mind could catch up, I said yes to a $12K investment in my business for said program. I got off the call feeling nauseous. It was like my Soul said yes before my mind could make sense of it all and talk myself out of the shift I was seeking in my business. I had 30 days to come up with 12k. I’ve invested in myself before but I really had no business saying yes to such an expense. I scrambled and sprung into action. I applied to every grant I qualified for, I considered small business loans, I did prosperity spells, and got witchy with it- you name it. 3 days before I was scheduled to make the payment, a grant for 12K pulls through. In my bank account. It was that moment that I knew, when my Soul is making the decisions, I am met with the resources needed to prosper. It was the best business advice I got from myself and rewarded for taking a huge leap of faith.
Laura, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Not all vocal coaches have the therapeutic skills necessary to effectively treat psychological and physical complexities trauma impacts the voice.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Relationships. I would not be where I am today without the support of other mentors, coaches and guides who introduced me to opportunities and networks, both as a musician and entrepreneur. Relationships is also how I support my clients. We build trust, intimacy and genuine support. When people feel supported they can do anything. When they feel like someone sees them and believes in them, people thrive. Relationships marketing has also helped me to double our email list and clientele base.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
It’s not so much a lesson as it is a mindset. Over the years I’ve really had to unlearn the idea that having a successful business must be hard. I must work hard and sacrifice other parts of my life in order to get ahead. When you think of it, this way of thinking is super constricting. I worked with my mindset to allow myself to have ease and explore what could happen if it all worked out. How can it be easy and not make myself wrong for doing business my way.
