We were lucky to catch up with Brandi Marconi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandi, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have been a practicing pagan for over 10 years and candles, herbs, oils and crystals are a big part of Rituals. I have shared this part of myself with friends and one reached out asking if I could recommend somethings for them to boost self-love. I wanted to make something for her to help with this and combined everything into a single candle because she loves candles. I wanted it to be something she could use as needed, anywhere in the house. She loved it and said I should make more candles for Rituals and self care. I started playing around with wax blends, oils, herbs and crystals with purposes like confidence, happy home, moon Rituals, etc and received a lot of positive feedback. I even started to take requests to make custom candles both for known intentions and by intuition. This approach was incredibly unique and allowed me to tailer products to my clients. I then started to branch out to wax melts, custom molds, wreaths, moon water bottles, and bath teas.
Brandi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I found my spirituality in paganism over a decade ago. In my spiritual journey I started to use crystals, herbs, oils and more in my daily life. My desire to have custom items for different Rituals or practices lead to me making them for myself. My friends saw this and started requesting custom items for different intents and I realized there were many in our community that had a similar desire for custom candles and items for Rituals. I make custom candles, wax melts, moon water bottles, decor and bath teas with all natural products like waxes, oils, herbs and crystals. I have also created non ritual items using the same quality ingredients that are pop culture inspired. I pride myself on quality, on listening to clients needs, making one of a kind items and giving back. A portion of my profits go to women’s rights organizations and lgbtqia+ programs.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think reaching out to other small businesses to source products and build relationships as well as providing lots of insight into my business, brand and practices through social media really helped me grow.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy has been participating in events and groups that cater to my niche while allowing the potential to reach people who don’t fall into my niche normally.
