We recently connected with Arm Of Casso and have shared our conversation below.
Arm Of Casso , appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I coined the name “Arm of Casso” by merging the acronym of my own name with that of the renowned artist Pablo Picasso. As you may be aware, Picasso pioneered the art movement known as cubism. My personal artistic style is dubbed “Sharpism” owing to my consistent use of Sharpies as the primary tool for all my creations.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
“I’m the creative mind behind Arm of Casso, and I’d love to introduce you to my world of artistry. My journey into the world of art began as a passion at a early age and over time, it transformed into a thriving business.
At Arm of Casso, I specialize in a unique artistic style I’ve coined ‘Sharpism.’ This style is characterized by the intricate use of Sharpies as my primary medium for every piece of art I create. The name ‘Arm of Casso’ is a fusion of my initials and the iconic artist Pablo Picasso, whose groundbreaking cubism movement continues to inspire me.
My artwork serves as a visual exploration of the intersection between traditional and contemporary artistic techniques. Through ‘Sharpism,’ I aim to not only create art pieces but also provoke thought and emotion in those who experience my work.
What sets Arm of Casso apart is the fusion of classic and modern artistic elements, combined with the meticulous craftsmanship that goes into each creation. I take pride in offering art that is not only aesthetically captivating but also a reflection of my dedication and passion for the craft.
I’m most proud of the connection I’ve established with my clients and followers. My art has resonated with people from all walks of life, sparking conversations and forging lasting relationships. Whether you’re a potential client, follower, or fan, I want you to know that Arm of Casso represents a fusion of tradition and innovation, a commitment to quality, and a dedication to delivering art that truly speaks to the heart.”
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My journey towards becoming a full- time artist has been a ride filled with its fair share of challenges and victories. When I initially took the leap of faith to pursue art as my full-time career, I encountered a unique situation with a client that left a lasting impact.
I had created a piece of artwork featuring the legendary Mike Tyson, and this client, who had recently appeared on Tyson’s podcast, expressed interest. I shared the artwork with him, and his response was unexpected. He confidently stated that replicating my art would be an easy task for him. I won’t deny that his words stung, and I was initially hurt by the critique.
However, I’ve always strived to provide excellent customer service, so I responded to him via Instagram with professionalism and grace. This experience was the first time someone had reacted to my work in such a manner, and it was a moment that stuck with me.
Instead of letting it deter me, I used it as fuel for my passion. I reminded myself that the opinion of one person among billions shouldn’t define my journey. Over time, this experience motivated me to work even harder. As I reflect on that moment and compare it to my earlier pieces, I can see the significant growth and maturation in my work.
This journey has taught me a valuable lesson – in life, you must keep moving forward, regardless of the obstacles. Belief in your vision is paramount because if you don’t believe in it, who else will?
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One valuable lesson I had to unlearn on my art journey was the belief that physical presence at numerous events and galleries was the sole path to selling art. Before the pandemic, I often received advice from peers who emphasized the importance of attending events and being part of galleries to sell art. Consequently, I spent a significant amount of time pounding the pavement, showcasing my work in person.
However, when the pandemic emerged, it forced a complete overhaul of my business model. Interestingly, this pivot turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Shifting to the digital realm was one of the best decisions I ever made.
My previous mindset was firmly rooted in the traditional methods of selling and creating art. I believed that these were the only avenues to success. Yet, embracing technology opened up a world of opportunities. Going digital allowed me to tap into multiple income streams and connect with a broader client base.
This transformation in my approach has stood the test of time. Even today, I continue to follow this digital-centric method, recognizing the immense potential it offers for growth and success in the ever-evolving art world.
