We were lucky to catch up with Marisarah Larvick recently and have shared our conversation below.
Marisarah, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you share a customer success story with us?
We have helped many people feel better in the comfort of their own homes through IV hydration therapy. Most recently, I have started to infuse a 43-year-old woman who has struggled with chronic fatigue, endometriosis and very poor gut health. We had a long talk about her symptoms prior to starting IV infusions. I explained to her that it may take several treatments to help her feel better. We began a series of infusions. After only two treatments, she started to feel significantly better. She was sleeping better, her energy levels were up, her daily runs and workouts were easier and her overall general wellness improved. Her daughter celebrated her graduation from high school over Memorial Day weekend. Several family members were in town for the celebration. She had the energy, stamina and mental clarity to be fully present in such an important moment in her family’s life. She texted me and thanked me for everything. She shared with me that she has not felt this good in years! Not only did we help her feel better both physically and emotionally, but we gave her time back with her family!
Another testimonial that I still hold so close to my heart is from a 48-year-old male I have been infusing who has Parkinson’s. He has two school-age children and most days his Parkinson’s symptoms make it hard for him to keep up with them. After his first IV infusion, he texted me the next day. He shared with me that he just took his dog for a one mile walk. He could not remember the last time he had the energy, motivation and mobility to walk his dog, let alone that far. After his second IV infusion, he shared with me that his mental clarity and focus were improved to the point that he sat down and read a book. This has been something he has been unable to do for sometime. We helped give this client simple joys back in his life that his Parkinson’s had slowly robbed him of.
These are just two of many testimonials we have from our clients on how IV hydration has helped improve their lives.
Marisarah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Marisarah, the owner and founder of MNIV. MNIV was started during the pandemic. As a 14-year Emergency Room RN, I would see patients daily who could easily be treated at home for minor ailments such as migraines, GI upset, nausea, vomiting, cold/flu, dehydration and fatigue. Patients sat in the Emergency Room waiting room for hours, sometimes never receiving the treatment they needed because of the lack of beds and resources. In collaboration with my medical director, who is a local Emergency Room doctor, we put together a plan to bring RNs right to the comfort of your home. This is not only more convenient for patients but also a more affordable option for most.
MNIV has flourished over the past 18 months. Not only are we helping people with minor illnesses feel better, but we are helping improve people’s overall quality of life! There is a misconception that you need to be ill to receive an IV treatment. This is false! I personally infuse every 3-4 weeks to optimize my overall health to feel my best, so I can continue to push myself to new levels both personally and professionally. I have 3 young kids, a husband and a growing business I need to keep up with!
Our team of RNs are something I’m so proud of! It’s been a very rewarding experience to provide them with a unique and extremely rewarding nursing opportunity. My entire team loves what they do and genuinely feels valued by myself and the patients we serve. My nursing team is a direct reflection of myself and the high standards I have built my company on. We have over 100 5-star Google reviews and couldn’t be more proud!
I’m also very proud that our medical director for MNIV is local here in the Twin Cities area. He actively works in two Emergency Departments in the Twin Cities and is available to our nursing team around the clock to safely meet the needs of our patients. Many of our local competitors’ medical directors are out of state and are not as involved in the daily operations.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Prior to starting my current business, MNIV, I owned a small home care agency. The company was named after my grandmother Billie. We cared for older adults in their homes and provided respite services to families. We specialized in helping families care for their loved ones who suffered from Alzheimer’s and Dementia. We employed an elite team of caregivers and administration staff to operate our home care agency. We were making a difference in many families’ lives and were providing employment to over 30 employees in the Twin Cities area. We were moving and shaking and making a huge difference in the community and the families were served. Then, COVID hit. This threw many new challenges at us in an already very regulated area. In spring of 2021, we were notified we would no longer be able to operate our business in the State of Minnesota and ultimately had to close our doors in June of 2021. This was an absolutely devastating experience for us. We spent two years pouring our hearts and souls into this company and were building something incredible. We had it ripped away over regulations that make it very hard for private pay agencies to succeed. We had to lay off our staff and deliver the terrible news to our clients that we would be unable to serve them anymore. This was rock bottom for me.
When I think back to this time in my life, my eyes immediately fill with tears. The trauma of losing a very profitable business is still very real for me. What I learned from this experience is that I can do really hard things. This gave me a taste of what true entrepreneurship could look like. My home care business was permanently closed for about a month before I had an idea to start a new business, MNIV! I spent the next six months working back in the Emergency Room and in the home infusion world. In my free time, I was building my future business. Losing my first company was not a failure; it was a stepping stone to what came next. I’m very excited for what my future holds and have some really exciting things coming next year!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I’m all about storytelling marketing on social media. I am a busy mom of three kids (9, 7 and 5). My husband and I are both business owners. Our lives are very busy both personally and professionally. It’s not perfect and most days we are living on the edge of chaos. This is all very relatable and my followers love getting a peek into who I really am vs. a perfectly illustrated post. I get the most engagement on the posts and stories I do that are authentic, relatable and may not have anything to do with the services I offer or the problems I help solve. I believe if my followers develop a connection with me, they are more likely to follow, begin a conversation and eventually refer or utilize my services.
I was at Costco with my family this summer. A fellow shopper stopped me and asked if I was the girl from @mnivnow. I told her I was. She then complimented me on how much she enjoys my instagram page. I felt like a little celebrity for a hot second!
My advice to others in trying to grow on social media is to work on defining 3-5 pillars of your business (thank you Hillary Krueger for this!). Once you narrow that down, you can create endless amounts of content. Consistency is key. You have to show up for your social media pages and engage with your audience. Make the reel, press play and let the world hear your voice. Lastly, don’t be afraid to hire someone to help you manage your socials and create content. Just make sure their style aligns with the vision of your brand.
