Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Marie Anne Decamp. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Marie Anne , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Started in 2019 in art business as a contemporary painter, although I have been creative and productive for years… it took me ages to find the confidence and the skills to do it, as I am mainly self taught. I am learning business aspects is the art world process almost every day…Which is kind of cool…and useful, the art market in tough !
Borned in the 70s, my life has been very different of most people around me. I live and I am from a town located not too far from Paris, I like to call it the beginning of the countryside.
A very creative child, I almost ended in an art school after (very!) short studies in law and English language at university, here in France. But no, my soul was destined to travel, and to discover! My first immersed long stay abroad was in Ocean Beach, San Diego, California (my second heart home now) along with amazingly kind and mindful people…still my friends now ! What a life gift ! …But (always a but…) after this first 3 month stay in OB, it has been very hard to go back home for art school. I couldn’t stand the idea of being stuck in Paris for three years of school. So, I never went and kept on travelling regularly, in California many times, New Zealand, for a volunteer project working for the environment, in Costa Rica, also French West Indies…yet always with a kind of goal.
Indeed, back in those days I builded more of a life experience than a real career…but art was here, and I started being more serious about it in the 2000s, time to build my art skills and confidence as an artist, day by day.
Also, after a few years, some of my friends started to find interest in my art, which is also an important aspect to know when it is the right time to start the business, I think.
Personnaly, another important thing happened to me in 1998, as I was in New Zealand, I found faith and spirituality, and that has given me a very positive vision of my future.i wouldn’t be what I am without it. that’s for sure !
So on August 19th 2019…I created the art business ! I am now (modestly) internationally exhibited…by the way I ll be represented by Artifact gallery at the 2024 LA Artshow ! Come over !

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As an expressionist contemporary painter, my main activity is abstract acrylic quite big size paintings on canvas. Also, I started to paint on Levis jeans, which is very fun. I am currently painting my biggest artwork on canvas as ever, which I want to call “Touch of heaven”… To be discover in a while ! On another hand, I have also created NFTs, which are propose for sale as digital art, that you can buy in Crypto money on Opensea for instance
.I think it is quite important to fit in this new actual world, to keep on going with this wind of change that is blowing very fast over the Earth.
Yet I created those characters first on paper, that I digitalized and transform : The Female Warriors of Love. They fight the good fight of universal Love ! Someone could do a movie with them ! I would love it ! Anyone in Hollywood…?
I like social media, and especially creating stories or reels, a great way to share some aspects of who I am as an artist, and since I am also musician and composer, being able to illustrate my art in music is joyful very enjoyable, and fun !
The only thing is time, always time…and keeping the appropriate peace of mind to create artworks, with the right inspiration.
What I am the most proud of ? Being alive, active, and having my own business. I like freedom !

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I like to operate alone, but in fact, my husband is my first business partner, no doubt on that.
Also, I think in life, we meet people, and sometimes we connect.
For instance, last year, I have participated to a successful art, decoration… local festival and met two buddies, an artist photograph and a young designer sculptor on metal.
we decided to create a collective to exhibit together and became friends as well. We’ve been working on this project for a year now. it is really cool ! it is called Artist Band Paris (check on IG !). I think we’ll be able to make it happened next year. I look for it !

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Motivation ! To keep on going successfully I personally need an alternation of peaceful loneliness and, very important, a recognition, through, for instance, being in light with artistic events.
