We were lucky to catch up with Tali Mizrachi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tali, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Our story started way back in 2014, when Monica (our co-founder & now my mother-in-law!) was helping her daughter pack for college. She couldn’t find a product that fit her daughter’s needs. She tried other organizers but they were too flimsy and didn’t allow her to see what she packed. Being the creative and crafty mom that she’s always been, she decided to design the products she imagined… CLEAR packing cubes in fun colors and sizes.
In 2015, EzPacking was born!
Our clear packing cubes and travel accessories make packing a breeze. Aside from the see-through design, our cubes have a modular construction so you can stack them any way you want in your suitcase. Sort of like tetris! Travelers also use them as traveling drawers! We believe this definitely solves a problem for travelers who want a quick and efficient way to see what’s inside their suitcase, while still keeping it organized. The mesh cubes just didn’t do the job…
Today we’ve organized thousands of suitcases around the world.
We have thousands of 5-star reviews on Amazon and our website. Moms, families, couples and even solo travelers love our clear packing cubes and find them super helpful for their trips!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Tali Mizrachi, the current CEO of EzPacking or as I prefer to say, ‘Head Chef’ of the team. I’ve always considered myself a creative, someone who would pursue a life outside the 9-5 desk life. I was pursuing my dream of dancing professionally in Los Angeles back in 2015. However, after a major injury (falling off a stage) my dance career was brought to a halt in 2018 and I was forced to choose a different path.
My boyfriend at the time (now husband and business partner, Salo) was starting up a packing cube company (EzPacking) and needed help with customer emails and things. I offered to help out part time. This was the start of my e-commerce business path towards EzPacking!
Back in 2015, it was just Monica and Salo who managed EzPacking. I came in around 2017 to help out part time. As the business grew, the workload got bigger so we knew we had to add more people to our team. Without any business experience of my own, it was all very exciting and scary at the same time! I learned on the job and worked my way up. We work remotely so everything – the recruiting, interviewing and hiring – is all done online. Today we’ve added 4 more amazing people to the team (+ Lucy
). Never in a million years did I think I would be running the company a few years later! I couldn’t have done it without the huge help (and patience) of my wonderful hubby, Salo and all that he has taught me along the way. It’s made our relationship stronger in so many ways. Now he likes to say he is “retired from EzPacking”, but he still helps out with odds and ends and large strategies for the year. And don’t think he’s not up to something good! He’s been studying software development and is working on some new apps… coming soon!

We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
We were definitely lucky from the start, having a family friend show us the ropes of dealing with manufacturers and finding factories that he already had worked with and trusted. We had the privilege of having him as our middle man, so most of the time we didn’t have to chat back and forth with the factories ourselves. This was a huge help that let us focus on the design of the product, building the brand and marketing and sales.
We learned along the way you have to be as clear as possible and never assume the person on the other side knows what you want. Be as specific and clear as possible! We had many failed attempts with samples we didn’t like in the beginning, but we learned a lot along the way.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Our biggest struggle was probably back in 2020, when COVID hit the world. Our business was hit particularly hard because travel came to a halt and we, obviously, sell travel products. We had just added a new employee back then and we did not want to lay off anyone from our team. Additionally we were stuck in New Zealand (on our honeymoon) and couldn’t go back home where it would be easier to figure out the next steps. That’s a story for another time…
Thankfully, we were able to survive the pandemic (with the team’s collective effort) and actually come out stronger. We took on a few marketing clients and had our team use their existing skills to help other businesses while we waited for covid to calm down. Now that travel is back again, our sales are growing even faster than pre-covid pace and we hope to expand our business even more in the future. Travel is back! Sorry, no more time for marketing clients.
