We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Camden Yacobucci. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Camden below.
Camden, appreciate you joining us today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
Going into music my father said something to me that really stuck inside my head. He said if I’m going to pursue my dream, it’s never going to feel like work because it’s what I love to do. Although the money will take a while to arrive, if you are doing something that you are passionate about then one way or the other the money will always come. I was contemplating dropping out of college in Brooklyn NY because I was addicted to performing in the streets and kept falling in love with music day after day. I made money street performing which was cool but I still didn’t commit fully yet. Months after, I left New York to take my dreams to the next level and released a mixtape on all platforms for the first time ever. A couple days after the release I saw in my accounts that people were buying the album. That was the first time I saw money made from people listening to my songs and I thought to myself that this is what it could really be as a full time job. I just need to push even harder now.
Camden, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an artist born and raised in the Akron OH area. I started releasing music my senior of Highschool and haven’t really stopped ever since. A lot has happened in these past few years. I started working more with the band I formed to bring another kind of energy to the name and brand “Yacobucci”. We are currently playing gigs around the country and slowly trying to build our brand bigger and bigger every single day.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
When I first started out making music and taking my career seriously I knew I wanted to change the world with it. I would always tell people this but deep down I had no idea how to do that. Slowly I grew into a relationship with god and realized this is the way I needed to go to change the world. I try to inspire others and help them know that there is something so much bigger than my music or any dream could ever be. And using this message to guide me and my actions will help me be on the right path to make that impact in the world I’ve been searching for.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Hands down the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the response I’ve received from certain individuals. I am blessed to have fans of the music I create but when people take it a step further and tell me that these songs have helped save their lives and healed the way they think, that’s bigger than any check I will ever receive in this lifetime. I can’t explain how much things like this mean to me. These words in my songs heal me. So to hear that they also heal others…it’s indescribable the amount of peace that brings me. I pray I can keep helping other outcasts with the music I love to create.
