We recently connected with Heidi Nicolle and have shared our conversation below.
Heidi, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
My parents both loved photography and as a gift for my high school graduation they bought me my first professional camera. I loved creating, capturing my surroundings and taking classes in photography. Although, it was when I started doing self-photography and sharing my journey online was when I realized this is what I should be doing.

Heidi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started my brand Heidiisms as way to showcase positivity, light and love in this world. It is my goal to make love go viral. I love live-streaming with my community and showcasing my everyday life online. I also love trying new things, experiences and bringing love to our community. I was honored be nominated for influencer of the year in 2022, one of the worlds top live-streamers in 2019, and be one of Meta Creators in 2022.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I started building my community about 7 years ago. I started a blog about everything to do in Los Angeles. I was new to LA and wanted to share my experiences with others. Through my blog, I got to meet a lot of amazing brands, business owners, creatives and city leaders. I loved being able to showcase different things to do and events as well. I was able to use my photography background as well to bring these experiences to my community on social media. My advice to anyone starting out is to showcase what you love, get involved in your community, give back and be yourself. Don’t be afraid of failure. I’ve pivoted many times. Always keep learning and enjoy every minute you are creating what love.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I had a friend joke with me once, I wish I had your job taking pictures and posting on social media seems so easy. I was laughing, and I thought of the beauty of it. Social media is designed to make everything look easier. You watch a TikTok or a Reel breaking down how to do a project and you feel like you can do it. Which I love about social media but you don’t see the hours the creators spend thinking up the concept, shooting each step, editing the video, posting and responding to their community. There is a true business side to creating whether it is an art piece, a creative video or a brand.
