We were lucky to catch up with Kiara Reid recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kiara, thanks for joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My Mom taught me , how to persevere. Growing up and still very much to this day, she’s a woman who I’ve seen constantly overcome everything that’s been thrown her way. Being able to witness that type of strength, has shaped my mindset to know and believe that I can overcome anything.
My dad when I was a kid he would always tell me to apply myself. He would say “ you can do anything if you just apply yourself”. I didn’t quite understand what he meant back then. I receive it now as just being intentional about what I’m doing and putting my best foot forward. I’m doing that now well into adulthood , and I can see that he was right.
Kiara, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Kiara Reid a licensed esthetician, self care cosmetics brand owner and self proclaimed beauty enthusiast. I started my beauty journey back in 2013. I was a makeup and hair assistant at one point. I also worked several different jobs in the industry throughout the years. I graduated from The Elaine Sterling Institute for Esthetics in 2021.
In 2022 I invested into a suite. At the time I was providing beauty services such as facials, waxing, makeup etc. It was a great experience and I learned so much!
Currently I’m focusing on expanding KBK Beauty Cosmetics. I believe that beauty is a form of therapy & that self care is important to your overall wellbeing.
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
I sell on my site and my clients/ customers have the option to book services when they become available again. It’s one of the pros I have using a platform like Square. They also have features that make marketing easier.
As far as the cons, it can be difficult to get in touch with customer service times.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source for me has been leaving my business card or networking in places that are related or closely related to my field
