We were lucky to catch up with Zenna recently and have shared our conversation below.

Zenna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

I’ve realized that I wanted to be a singer when I joined a Church choir at 6 years old. Being a part of the Music Ministry had opened many opportunities for me to be involved in various Church and community events that I considered as a very enriching and fulfilling experience.

Zenna, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Zenna and I am a national anthem singer, model, stage actress and a dancer. I started singing in Church when I was 6 years old and was trained to be a cantor. Many parishioners thought that I had a great voice and that motivated me to pursue my passion in singing. My late grandma, a voice and piano teacher, patiently taught me different techniques in singing until the moment came when I was invited to join a singing competition. My grandma was very proud of me when I became the Child Singing Sensation Champion 2017 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. We decided to take my singing lessons to the next level by taking voice lessons at Vibo Music. I joined another singing competition for The Filipino Channel Tawag ng Entablado 2018 and won 1st Runner-Up. This had paved way for me to be a front act for many artists including singer and songwriter David Pomeranz. I have also performed in various Bay Area festivals in California with mostly as a solo singer while other events are with my band which is composed of 10 to 16 year old artists. I am also proud to be a national anthem singer where I have performed multiple times for the Reno Aces baseball , and to other sports and community events. I am proud to be able to give back to my community by sharing my talents and serving as role model and inspiration to the youth like me.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is creating a positive impact to my audience by sharing my talent to my community. Being a singer had allowed me to travel and to meet a lot of people as well as other local talents in the area. I had the opportunity to appear at the Vegas Vibes TV and also with Music Asia Las Vegas. As a teenager, it was a fun meeting and singing with the professional artists that were my inspiration in singing.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My goal is to further improve my craft as a singer and to make it international someday. I believe that it would entail a lot of patience, dedication, and hard work to practice and learn more styles and creativity to become a great performer. I still have plenty of time to develop my skills as a teenager.
