We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ben Jammins. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ben below.
Alright, Ben thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
When initially starting the BenJammins brand, I had no previous experience in many of the essential skills pivotal for a successful content creator, such as marketing, public speaking, video editing, and script writing.
Now, I’m genuinely proud of how far I’ve come in mastering these skills. However, reaching this proficiency wasn’t achieved overnight. YouTube tutorials became my makeshift classroom, offering insights into everything from basic editing to advanced content & marketing strategies.
While online lessons were enlightening, they had their limits. My most instructive teacher was trial and error. Engaging directly with my audience and absorbing their feedback was integral to my growth. Posting consistently and frequently allowed me to get my feet wet instantly, also allowing me to see what was and what wasn’t working specifically for me. Dipping my toes into the process and iterating through the highs and lows of my self-scripted, filmed, and edited videos enabled me to refine and improve with each video. The analytics provided by platforms like YouTube and TikTok were a goldmine, giving me a direct view into what resonated with the audience and what fell flat. To anyone pursuing content creation, I would highly recommend reviewing retention graphs and other analytics provided by these platforms.
Furthermore, I religiously studied what was already working for others in the same space. Watching what was already working, understanding the nuances of viral content, and observing the strategies employed by successful creators allowed me to dissect and learn. There’s an art to virality, and while you can’t guarantee to manufacture it, you can at the very least create an environment where it’s more likely to happen. Drawing inspiration from trending topics and formats, and then adding the ‘BenJammins’ twist became my modus operandi.
The world of content creation is vast and ever-evolving, but with a blend of self-taught skills, keen observation, and relentless determination, anyone can carve their unique path.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My journey into content creation began in the most unexpected of ways. What was initially a humorous clip from a Call of Duty game, meant just for friends, turned into a sensational viral hit after I posted it on Reddit. The numbers were staggering: over 100 million views across various platforms. The magnitude of its success wasn’t only in the numbers; celebrities I looked up to like LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Stefon Diggs watched, shared, and commented the clip. That ended up being a pivotal moment that served as the catalyst for the birth of the BenJammins brand.
The ethos behind BenJammins is simple yet impactful: combine a unique and memorable persona while maintaining a light-hearted and satirical approach. In a world where “content creator” is the #1 desired profession, it’s crucial to carve out a distinctive niche.
While I revel in crafting comical narratives around everything from gaming to “IRL” content, the essence of BenJammins goes beyond just humor. It’s about creating a sanctuary of escapism for our community, an opportunity for them to momentarily forget their worries and immerse themselves in a world of creativity, music, and positivity. Every video and livestream is infused with a palpable passion and dedication, an attribute I hope resonates with every viewer that watches BenJammins.
One of the most surreal experiences on this journey has been transitioning from a fan to a colleague. I’ve found myself forming bonds and collaborations with content creators I once admired from the other side of the screen, a constant reminder of how far the brand has come and a motivator for the future.
I aspire to elevate the brand to a universally recognizable name, not just within the gaming domain but also in the broader entertainment sector. Plans are in motion to innovate the livestreaming space, combining cutting-edge livestream technical advancements and combining that with entertaining ideas that bridge the gap between gaming and “IRL” content.
One of the main motivators remains my community, the JamFam. Our friendships have evolved into genuine, real-life connections. From virtual interactions to organizing events and meetups, the community isn’t just a fanbase… it’s an actual family now, which puts an entirely new meaning on why I continue to make content to this day.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
When reflecting on my creative journey, I often realize that the most invaluable resources aren’t always tools or platforms, but rather the people alongside you on similar paths. If there’s one resource I wish I’d tapped into earlier, it’s the wealth of knowledge and experience that friends in the content creation industry offer.
Having fellow content creators as confidants is like having a real-time feedback loop. Before a video even goes live, they provide genuine, constructive critiques that can mean the difference between content that resonates and content that just ‘exists.’ These relationships have been the bedrock of my iterative process, pushing me to refine my content continually.
Furthermore, there’s an old saying, “success has many fathers, but failure is an orphan.” Yet, in the content creation world, both success and failure are shared experiences. Observing a friend’s setback is an educational moment, helping me sidestep potential pitfalls. Conversely, when they achieve a breakthrough or discover a novel success strategy, it’s shared amongst the friend circle. “Collaboration often trumps competition” is something that I originally heard from Mr. Beast, and I have used this philosophy to gain an advantage in my own journey.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is simply making people smile and laugh with my content. Each comment or message I receive, showing that someone enjoyed a video or livestream, instantly brightens my day. There’s an indescribable joy in knowing that my creations bring a moment of happiness or escape to someone’s life. Such feedback serves as a constant motivation, reminding me of the positive impact I have and reinforcing my decision to pursue this as my career.
