We recently connected with Taylor Smith and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
My tattoo apprenticeship process has been full of different educational methods, from reading to observation to hands-on experience. Being positive and confident helps with grasping concepts; insecurity is an obstacle to reaching your potential!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I apprentice under Gee at Tattoo Avenue. A big part of tattooing is collaboration. We work with clients to execute their ideas in a way that makes them happy and provides them with the best product and experience possible. Tattoos are personal; we strive for clients to feel they have say and power in a project.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I still have a very modest amount of followers on social media, but compared to the 0 I expected to gain when starting, it’s something! I was unfamiliar with social media, but my coworkers have helped a lot with figuring it out. In my experience, having a semi-consistent post schedule helps with reach!
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
TheVirtualInstructor.com is a great resource full of lessons and tutorials. I wish I had found it months before I did. It helped sharpen fundamentals and develop new skills and techniques.
