Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jenny Kang. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jenny thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
As a women’s fashion manufacturer for over 20 years, worked tirelessly to achieve the American dreams, that dream was to produce denim, jeans in US with our own label. It may sounds little odd that the immigrant from S.Korea is made a mission to create US made jeans, keeping the true American denim heritage, when the majority of other jean makers are producing abroad. Of course on the business perspective oversea production makes sense, but if you understand the history of true American denim, we have to commit our US production. Denim the fabric is actually not invented here, it was France in late 1700, from the town called Denimes’ ,so it got the name from the town.. the fabric became the choice of the workers who have built America for it’s durability and the ruggedness, who would of thought that hideous pants would become not only the iconic piece in fashion, also the icon of America. From the rail workers, miners, cowboys to Marylin to James Dean to today. Our mission is to keep the true Americana denim heritage that will inspire all
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Jenny, I started working in the L.A. Fashion industry as a designer over 30 years ago, after meeting my husband Billy, who was a sales executive in fashion, we started our garage based business 20 years ago. We worked tirelessly to build our company together and after all of our friends and colleagues thought we were bound for retirement, we started a new course with NOEND Denim.
Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?
Shortly after launching NOEND, the pandemic started, we were advised to abandon course, but that is not us, we are not quitters
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
We invested more when others were pulling out of US production for better margin and profits
