We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sean De La Nuez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sean, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
As an independent filmmaker it is very difficult to get the recognition or funding needed to kick off a career in the industry. In some cities or towns you would need to have many friends with the same interest or be very lucky that the people around you want the same thing. My companies mission is to bring people together. To provide opportunities for those that truly seek this career and show the passion behind it. We turn weaknesses into strengths and teach how to overcome almost any obstacle by always being prepared for the worse.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Sean De La Nuez, I have been a filmmaker for almost ten years now. My company “High Buzz” creates just THAT, a high buzz for a film or music video or commercial. We want to bring attention to not just the brand but the people. We provide solutions through solving any problems that may occur on a filming set. We pull sources from all over the globe to do one thing, “get the job done!” From Pre-Production to Post Production, we have all the tools needed to get exactly what you want.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
All i wanted was to be on film sets. Once I got enough experience in them I wanted to know the start to finish on what it takes to make a movie. I was an extra, I was a production assistant. I worked my way up and learned from others on what was right and wrong and applied those changes into my workflow. After years of practice I decided to take over and Direct and Edit my own movies. After a few releases I was able to show my work and started getting bigger paying jobs. It got to a point where I opened my own company and started bringing people from around the world that I would meet with the same passion and drive.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Be a leader not a manager. Lead your team to success by showing empathy and knowledge on everything from your product to your co-workers. Study them in all aspects and see what drives them. Use it to your advantage as well as theirs. If everyone wins, everyone is happy. Be as honest as you can and transparent. It will show more loyalty and more moral.
