We were lucky to catch up with Livisha Renee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Livisha , appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
My creative journey started in high school and honestly it was never a first pick for me but more of something that I was leaded into and I followed the path. After high-school I found myself in all different forms of media like radio was my favorite for example. Next thing you know I looked up and got two degrees in film and here I am today pursing to be an actress and it has been a journey !
Livisha , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
So how I got into the industry as stated before I started out in high school and I found myself working in different Internet radio platforms and then I moved onto working to some different local films around the Baltimore area. After I graduated college I decided to move towards being in the acting field and I went on a search for acting classes and acting coaches and now I currently go to an acting school in LA and I have some of the best top teachers in LA. And I’ll be transparent it definitely is a journey where there’s a lot of ups and downs and sometimes you might lose motivation sometimes you feel like you might wanna quit and sometimes you might even want to take a step back and take a break especially if you been doing it as long as I have sometimes you do get burnt out and I do say if you feel like you need a break take a break take a rest because most time when you come back at it you come back stronger than before and that’s from my experience but never give up .
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In my view the best way society can support artists and creative is to let them feel seen let them feel heard always give positive feedback when critiquing as well allow them to feel appreciated in the space it really helps and it definitely goes a long way for a creative to hear positive reinforcement constantly. It gives hope it gives me motivation to help support the drive, verbal appreciation goes a long way that’s all I can say.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to show people to never give up on their dream , I’m a teacher and I work with children so and I work with inner-city children so inner-city kids you know you know you just never know the background they come from troubled background and I just want them to see me I’m just like you I grew up in the inner city even though it wasn’t that long but there is a way out especially being from Baltimore and the crime we see the things that our younger children see every day and you know sometimes I can make the children definitely feel hopeless so I feel like hopefully one day I can touch these children and give them hope and give them motivation to whatever your dream is go follow it if there is a way out just keep pushing don’t give up do what you gotta do and get it done.
