I started looking into careers that I could make my own hours around my husband and children. I looked into doing lashes, but that didn’t spark my interest. Then I came across waxing! I watched many videos on waxing. My next step was to find out how I could get started. I took a wax class with a highly recommended instructor named Kamesha Rush, owner of Esthi by Kamesha. That was in February 2020, then the world shut down in March. After practicing on friends and wanting to learn more, I enrolled into Esthetics school in January 2021. I graduated in May 2021 and passed both of my testing to become licensed in August of 2021. I knew I wanted to work on my own, so while in school I started buy equipment and supplies for my treatment room. When I graduated My best friend, Kiara Vincent offered me a space in her hair salon Crown and Glory Beauty Studio. From August until December my treatment room was under construction. On December 7, 2021 I launched Lavish Things.

Well my name is Alicia and I specialized in facials and waxing. I have been licensed for 2 years now. I am located in Downtown Pontiac, Michigan. I got into this business to be able to work around my family’s schedule. So building something for myself was important. I started Lavish Things in the fall of 2021. I truly enjoying making the ladies I service feel comfortable, heard, and not rushed. We have a good time here at Lavish Things. During waxing I always take my time in explaining each step, so my client knows what’s coming next. During my facials I make sure that the ladies are more than relaxed and at peace. I use a massage mat, weighted blanket, and great smelling aromatherapy!

I answer questions, take my time, and provide a space that is warm and welcoming. You treat people well, they will treat you well. Then they will recommend their family and friends to come and see you.

In the summer of 2021 I picked up a part time job waxing, because business was slow for me, which is normal while you’re building your business. While I enjoyed having extra income coming in and gaining business experience, my business suffered. I didn’t do a good job of balancing everything on my plate and my business was feeling it. So I decided to walk away from my part time position and fully focus on the business I knew God had given me. My business has grown since then!
