We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Croyce Allen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Croyce below.
Hi Croyce, thanks for joining us today. Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
I take vacations from time to time, for me vacations mostly happen there a family gathering in another state or take a trip with some friends. As a business owner, i make sure that all my work is done, all my emails are scheduled to send out by a certain time and that my content is filmed, edited and ready to post. There are times while i’m on vacation i take important phone calls or respond back to emails my mom or grandma would side-eye me. I’m a Capricorn so I want to make sure everything is set. My advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation is to put the right people in place and delegate. I find that by having the right people in place and delegating, trusting and empowering them, you will have more time to focus on what you are good at and more time on the weekends and at night to spend time with your family and friends. It’s crucial to hire the right people, treat them well and then trust them to do their job.
Croyce, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Croyce Allen I’m a youth advocate, entrepreneur and video content creator. I have my own 501 (C)3 non-profit organization called Youth Destined For Greatness. We encourage kids, teens and young adults to believe in themselves and value service to others. YDG strives to support the youth in pursuing their own intrinsic motivations while being a champion of the same for the next generation of leaders in a world that tries to dictate others. Our vision is Excellence, Education and Empowerment.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I co-founded this non-profit organization with my grandmother Cynthia Keith, when i was 12 years old she saw that i had interest and was very passionate about helping the youth in my community. We both came up with a name, what our purpose, mission and goals for my organization and our first event we put together was an annual backpack giveaway. I felt like it was very important to incorporate my grandmother to work beside me because family is everything to me and I want to have a team that supports everything that I’m trying to accomplish with this organization and make the vision that i have come to life.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
It took some time to build my social media audience on my personal and business page. I started following other non-profit organizations, and charitable companys that serve the community in different ways. I also post content that is relevant to Tv/Film and inspirational content that relates to kids, teens and young adults. What I find very difficult sometimes is to be consistent in posting, i try to put at least 2 times a weeks to keep my followers engaged on my social media platforms.
My advice for those just starting to build the social media presence is to respond to & engage with your audience. Try to see your followers as not only a number which you’re aiming to grow, but as relationships you need to maintain. People want to be seen and heard, and interaction and meaningful conversation become more and more important. I would also suggest to use tags & hashtags smartly, hashtags are a great way to be found and seen, but also to take part in trends and stay engaged in the community. And Lastly consider investing in paid social,It can be a really good investment to spend a bit of money on paid social promotions and advertisements. If done right, paid ads can not only grow your audience but also enhance the number of conversions while helping you target a greater number of people..
