We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful G.B. ROANE JR. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with G.B. below.
G.B., looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
I started my business in 2022. I’m retired military and I volunteer for the Red Cross. I wish I would have started my business before the pandemic. I’m seeing to many people about to go to jail or have to pay back a lot of money from that PPP loan situation. I’m a Financial Coach and I feel I may have been able to help a lot of people.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Gary B. Roane Jr I’m a retired Army Staff Sergeant. Who opened an financial Coaching business. G.B. ROANE JR FINANCIAL LLC. I help people learn how to setup a budget, understand credit, and I do debt management. What I’m most proud of? Is when I see the people I helped go a little further in life with their finances. I want people to know you don’t have to see me in person, plus I also do sessions over the phone and online. I can help you set up budgets for an income level, help you understand your credit reports and scores, and show you how to pay down debt.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Well my story started back when I first joined the military. It was back in 1988. Ì was in the military twice. The first time I had just turned 19 yo. I thought I knew everything and did not know nothing when it came to money. I was writing bad checks and I had a charge card I did not know how to use. So, I went through life not caring. Until 2003 I join the military again. This time I told myself I’m going to make it. I started going to every school they would send me too. I started learning about finances. Then 2009 I bought my house and still really did not know what I should have known. I went on and retired in 2015 get depressed, did not do much for years. Pandemic hit and it changed my whole mindset. Took so much finances classes, started volunteering for the Red Cross and my life changed. Then I started helping people with their finances and I said to myself I need to start a business. It was born in 2022.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Well it did not cost much to start my business. I may have spend $5000. That was for two laptops, a computer desk, printer, business cards, t-shirts, and a few more finance classes. So, I used my own money to fund my business. Right now I’m looking into grants. Because most of the clients I work with cannot afford my sessions. Just because money is tight for them anyway.
