We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sachiko Moore a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sachiko thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
Growing up, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I was born to into a family of professional musicians, which meant that my parents both turned their passions into their careers. My mom was a flute player and my dad played bassoon. I always knew that they would never force me into medical or law school like some parents do. In fact, they supported the idea of me becoming a professional dancer at one point! However, despite all this freedom, I struggled to choose a career path because I felt I wasn’t passionate enough about anything. At university I explored several different majors including computer science, East Asian studies, and ecology and evolutionary biology. While attending university I began to take acting and voice acting classes outside of school, and I discovered that I loved it! Once I mentioned voice acting to my parents, they were happy that I found something I want to try to make a living out of. If it weren’t for their support, I don’t think I would have had the courage to pursue voice acting! So thank you to my parents for believing in me and for being proof that you absolutely can follow your passions!
Sachiko, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a half Japanese Canadian/American voice actress and content creator! In 2022 I began making short Instagram and TikTok videos about anime and K-pop and grew an online community. I also make some videos about voice acting since it is my dream to become a voice actor in anime dubs one day! I have always loved creative media such as shows, movies, and video games, so I always enjoy making videos about them and hope to one day be a part of them.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing about being a content creator is definitely receiving comments or messages from people saying that my videos make them smile or make their day a little brighter. It always makes me remember that the number of views I get never matters as long as someone enjoys what I make!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I’d say the best way to build a community is to be genuine and interact with people! I absolutely love talking to people in the comments of my videos and I think that’s a really great way to create a stronger relationship with your viewers. If you want to build social media presence, I would recommend to post consistently eventually people will find you and love what you do!
