We were lucky to catch up with Rachel Espinoza, M.Ed. recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rachel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What was the most important lesson/experience you had in a job that has helped you in your professional career?
When I first started out I wanted to do everything perfect. I had a boss that I tried incredibly hard to please, but nothing I did was ever good enough. His criticism of my writing and creativity was harsh and it made me want to prove my worth in my projects to him all the more. However, the harder I tried to make my work to be what he wanted, the more displeased he was. Finally, after a year of grueling work, overtime, and pressure-induced self-doubt, I emotionally gave up. It was Christmas time and I told myself, I’ve done everything that I could to change my work to please him and if I’m not good enough for him, so be it. I felt broken, but I had one final project of work to turn in before I headed home for the holidays. At this point I didn’t care about him anymore, I finished my project quickly, without any forethought or caution to what he might want. I was deliberately careless and didn’t double check or triple check my work according to what I knew would be his scrutinizing eye. I simply did the work, turned it in without care, and left for the holiday… completely assuming I would not have much of a job to come back to. So, imagine my surprise when I came back to work after the new year to a raving review from my boss. He said that project was exactly what he had hired me for, what he had been wanting to see for a year. It was at that moment that I learned a deeply important lesson- trying to be someone and create work for someone else is never as good as simply being yourself and letting your expression be pure. I was trying so hard to be someone I thought my boss wanted, that all my creativity was void and plastic. It had no soul. It took learning this lesson to drive home a sense personal authority and the ability to follow my own expression above all else.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a shaman and seer. My clients come to me for a clarity, healing and peace for their soul. I offer shamanic healing, which combines the use of native drumming, chanting, breath work, and elemental balancing of earth, air, water, and fire. This form of parapsychology heals trauma that we carry within our conscious, as well as, subconscious behavior patterns. I also act as a seer to view past lives, future probabilities, medical conditions, and otherworldly connections. I am able to connect with the unseen world and give vision and detail to what I see.
I realize this is a strange career path for many, but it is a very organic and natural way of reconnecting with our own soul. Our ancestors have honored visions and oracles throughout history, and there is part of us that recognizes our own truth.
When you meet with a true healer and guide your soul receives confirmation for what it has always known somewhere deep inside. It is not about sensationalism and drama. It is a very very deep confirmation and healing that arrises from within. This is what I seek to reveal to each of my clients. To remind them of who they truly are.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
In my career, I had to unlearn the belief that marketing wasn’t authentic. In a career that is based on my authenticity and personal connection with my clients, marketing was tough for me. Starting out as a spiritual entrepreneur, I had to reckon with my own belief systems about the advertising world that were holding me back. There is a common belief within our society that spiritual advisors that ask for payment for their services are scam artists or not in fact genuine.
This belief and fear of others viewing me within that belief structure really held me back at the beginning of my career. It wasn’t until my clients started asking me for more services, more resources to send their friends and family to, etc, that I realized “if people really want to hear about my services, they will appreciate the advertising and marketing.”
I have come to really value sincere marketing and professionals that have expertise in that field. Now that I have a spiritual entrepreneur program for helping others that are starting out in my field, I always teach them to address their own fears and misconceptions about marketing before they begin!

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I could go back I would absolutely choose the same profession! Never in your childhood does the teacher say, “hey you could just make being YOU your job.” I feel like the luckiest person alive that I get to help people heal, find reconciliation, realize they are never alone, reconnect with the elements and their ancestors, and gain confidence in their own extra sensory abilities.
My Master’s Degree in Education helps me to teach others learn their own spiritual gifts. I have developed curriculum that I wish someone had taught me when I was growing up with clairvoyance and premonitions.
This “profession” fits me like a glove. The teaching part of what I do really empowers people not to just get their spiritual answers from me as the middle-man, but to learn how to gain connection and clarity themselves through their own gifts!
