We recently connected with Taylor Pardue and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor , appreciate you joining us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I am most definitely happier as a business owner. It gives you the freedom to be creative and run your business exactly how you envision it. It is not always an easy road though. It can come with a lot of struggle and difficulty. Nothing is set in stone when you run your own business. You can think you are the most prepared and have everything in order and something still and or will not go as smoothly as you had hoped. It’s not like walking into a normal 9-5 where you have a set routine and schedule. A set paycheck. It takes a lot of the guessing game out of things when you work a “regular” job. It is hard sometimes to find the balance of work and free time. You have a tendency to bring work home and not know when to turn work life off when you run your own business. It’s not like you clock out and your done for the day. There is so much that has to be done behind the scenes and it can take up so much of your time. I find it so important to make sure you spend time with family and friends and learn how to make your mental health and health overall a priority. With all of that being said I wouldn’t change running my own business for anything. It is so rewarding being an entrepreneur and having the confidence in yourself to take that leap of faith and know as long as you try your best you will succeed.

Taylor , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those of you who missed my last interview with Voyage, my name is Taylor Pardue. I am Doctor of Naturopathy, Clinically Certified Thermographer, also known as digital infrared imaging, and an iridologist. I run a health and wellness business in South Florida and upstate New York.
I grew up in a beautiful paradise called Jupiter, Fl. Blessed is an understatement to call this place home. The energy and spirit of this small beach town will always have my heart. After I graduated high school, I was accepted to the University of Central Florida. I was ready for a new venture, to meet new people, and dig down deep to find my true passion in life. After one semester at UCF I knew this is not where I wanted to be or where I wanted to put my time and energy. I came back home to Jupiter and thought long and hard about my next venture.
Unfortunately, my mom started experiencing some pretty serious health problems right around the time I returned from college. We were very lucky to find an alternative screening to help detect her medical issues. We had to travel to the west coast of Florida in order to get this screening. After receiving her results, we knew we had to bring this technology to our community and help others. We flew to Pennsylvania and got certified as Clinical Thermographers and Accurate Wellness was born. This is when I knew I was on the path to pursue my passion.
Shortly after detecting my mother’s issues, I started going with her to her appointments. with Dr. Tom Slider, a world-renowned Naturopath in Palm Beach Gardens. After attending a few of her appointments and watching my mother heal herself naturally, I knew this is what I wanted to do. Every cell inside my body was vibrating and eager to learn more. I knew I wanted to take the next step and pursue this as my career.
I graduated from Trinity School of Natural Health with a Clinically Certified Health Professional Degree, Doctor of Naturopathy Degree, and worked with Dr. Slider for over ten years. The hands-on knowledge I have gained working by his side is invaluable. Since working with Dr. Slider, I have completed over a 1,000 clinical hours and continue to further my education.
It has been a long road and quite the journey, but Accurate Wellness is now a physical location in Jupiter, FL. We offer modalities ranging from Thermography, Iridology, Applied Kinesiology, also known as muscle testing, bioresonance hair and saliva tests, functional lab testing and blood work review, light therapy, Pilates and fitness classes, herbal remedies and supplements, and more! I now have over 11 years of experience in my craft and it my passion is to help educate my clients about the misconceptions of current health trends. It is my goal to help each one of my clients get down to the root cause of their issues and understand their unique needs. It is my honor to help assist my clients in the achievement of their optimal health.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Before Accurate Wellness was a physical location, we were a mobile unit and would go into different offices to scan our thermography clients. That changed when my mentor opened an office off of Northlake blvd and I started seeing my clients there as well as helped to manage the office. It still breaks my heart to this day but shortly after we opened the office my mentor passed away very suddenly and the office we shared together was shut down with no notice. I learned some major life lessons during this time, and I had to start from the ground up. I went from having an amazing location to having nowhere to go as well as trying to mourn the loss of my long time my mentor. I had a very short amount of time to pivot my business, find a new space and hit the ground running. It was difficult and extremely taxing on my emotional health, but everything worked out just as it should in the long run. The situation gave me so much more confidence in myself and really made me believe I can accomplish whatever I set my mind to no matter what obstacles were thrown my way.

Can you talk to us about your experience with buying businesses?
I have never bought a business but I did start mine from the ground up and had to make big investments into our state of the art medical grade equipment, certifications, schooling etc. I was able to get a small grant from the government as well as a business loan with very little interest. My advice would be to do your research on what resources are out there to help you with investments etc. There are so many resources to help you start your business. You just have to take the time to actually do the research which can be time consuming but so worth it in the end!
